Finally getting to the backlog!

ROTG- Caius is almost a pushover, but it took me a while to get the second fight down.

Coliseum- got Lightning to build up, I did the first bit of Snow's.

Mostly it's needing more crystals and getting some infusions lined up.

Grinding gil like a mad man to get level 3 weapons.

It's a real pain. I don't have the equipment/stats to fight the adamantoises, nor the luck to get Kills with death on them so I'm farming perfumes off sacrifices. Anyone know a better way to get gil before the big guys like long gui?

Kill the adamantoise in Eden. I know you said you can't Death or fight them, but if you've got at least one or two roles for Fang maxed out, then you can try the Bahamut method. It's pretty easy to do once you get the hang of it.

Found a cheaper way to get the trapezohedrons, fully upgraded a Kain's Lance and dismantled it getting 3 for the price of 1 + the cost of upgrading the Kain's Lance.

Then I trounced the Last Boss and got the superstar trophy.

And now it's on to the postgame, which I didn't actually do last time around

Fought and recruited Omega.   I'm trying to finish downloading Sazh's scenario and some other games but it's going very slow.

finished Heads or Tails-- I really liked Chronobind in particular.  Of course, now I need to farm orbs and essences for Sazh.

Time to revive this topic. I started the game today and got to Chapter 3. Calling it the Final Hallway XIII is by no means an exaggeration when it comes to the first few chapters. The battle system does seem to get more interesting as I progress through the game. From what I heard the game opens up around Chapter 6 so it should become way better after that point.
