Final Fantasy XI: Seekers of Adoulin releasing in late March
« on: December 27, 2012, 11:09:36 PM »

A decade later, MMORPG Final Fantasy XI is still kicking. If you're still playing along, the newest expansion to Final Fantasy XI, Seekers of Adoulin, will be releasing March 26th for North American players and March 27th for European players.

The above trailer focuses on story, which is based around a once forbidden land recently re-opened to "mortal contact."

The expansion will include a virgin continent, additional enemy types, and two new classes: the Rune Fencer and Geomancer.

Seekers of Adoulin will be sold on both PC and Xbox 360. The game will also be released on the PlayStation 2, but it will be for Japan only. You read that right, Sony is still making discs for the PlayStation 2, which will probably make Seekers of Adoulin the last Final Fantasy made for the PlayStation 2.

Fans will pay $29.99 for Seekers of Adoulin alone or $39.99 for the core game and every expansion and content pack to date.

dam, that's what you call fan service. I hope this dedication will continue over into FFXIV.

Or just strategic. Wouldn't be surprised if most people in Japan play FFXI on the PS2 to begin with ::)
It would be a service if they'd also released the PS2 version in the USA as they got a PS2 release of FFXI as well.

Only for the US, in the EU all we got where a PC and XBOX360 release.

And I doubt they where limited to start with, but what was a huge success in Japan became kinda a flop in the US. The main reason those HDD kinda sold in the US was because they got hacked and could be used to play downloaded games with. So I guess shortly after that they stopped producing the HDD ::)

Doesn't it have issues with the Slim or something?  I think that's why it never really took off.

That might have been it as well. All I remember is that it didn't really took of in the US, which is why Europe never even got the thing. And also the reason why Europe had to wait till the Xbox360 release till FFXI officially got launched here.
