Game of Thrones

Anyone watching it or read the book series?

Watched the first couple of episodes and thought it was alright  so I decided to start reading the books which have so far surpassed my expectations. Only halfway through the first book (wish I had time to read) but it's brilliant so far.

I'm watching the show at the moment and have to say that it's absolutely fantastic. The scale they manage to pack into each forty minute episode is astonishing. The one thing I will say is not having a clear cut hero or villain is sometimes a little disconcerting. The only characters so far who seem to be purely innocent and nice are little Arya and Brandon.

I agree on the Arya & Brandon part. One character I do like "both in the book and series" is Jon Snow. I can't explain why, and he's not even a main character. I'm also liking Khal Drogo's character progression it's subtle but his outlook does seem to change somewhat.

Jon Snow's morals do seem the most righteous of the adults in the story. As for Khal Drogo, I have to agree with you completely.

One thing I don't think the show portrays well is the characters ages for example in the books:

Jon Snow: 14 close to 15
Robb Stark: 15

Whereas in the shows they look much older around they're 20's. But in the book Jon Snow still had steadfast morals and a high maturity for his age. Which makes sense considering as a *Bleep* he is forced to grow up if just to be hard enough to ignore the jibes and comments thrown his way

The scenes they have to be part of sometimes necessitate older actors and actresses. They are younger in the books.
