Final Fantasy 'Combos' discussion thread. [SPOILER WARNING]
« on: January 21, 2009, 07:09:09 AM »
In this topic you can talk about different 'combos' of equipment, skills, and stats that are just too awesome.

to continue my conversation with Abel about FFT, no I was not level 99. I find level 99 make sit too easy for me. I try to stay below level 50 to keep SOME challenge. though after level 20 everything gets too easy for me. BTW my Ramza for soloing the last battles was about level 42.

I shall forever wait for the dreams that will never come true

I completely agree being level 99 does make it too easy and when a strategy game is "too easy" it's not really a strategy game at all.  Plus playing with a sort of challenge makes it more satisfying for you and you can give yourself a pat on the back for overcoming it. Good stuff!

You know, I fell in love with FFT because of the challenge and never looked back to FFTA because the battles were much easier, even though in actuality they were more or less archaic besides the 'Judge' being there, which didn't add to challange, it was more of an annoyance than anything.

I didn't play it more than a rent.... and I definitely had better things to play even besides FFT.

The original had most sophistication, flow, and more solid combat than the overly flashy FFTA games.

Now I'm hesitant to even try FFTA3 if it comes out. I'm concerned that it will ruin my FFT gaming experiences, like it happened each series installments....

I am the alpha and omega, the night and day, the first and last.

FFVI:
Berserk is basically free extra damage for a Raging Gau and Umaro.

FFIX:
Eidolon Trance+ every ability you can think of that triggers in battle.  This will give you more time for an Eidolon to show up.

FFT:
Brawler Ninja.  Less jp needed, faster, better gear than a dual wield Monk.

FFT:
Brawler Ninja.  Less jp needed, faster, better gear than a dual wield Monk.

A lot less Hp though, and also no healing. I usually have this set-up for Ramza:

Monk:
Punch Art
Guts
Blade Grasp
Two Swords
Move + 3

Equip:
N/A
N/A
N/A
Power Sleeve
Bracer

also 90+ brave

That's when I want sheer power =3

here's a good "Unstoppable" build:

Lancer:
Jump
Item (have a few X-Potions handy -- 40 preferably)
Blade Grasp
Concentrate
Teleport/Move+3

Equip:
Javelin II
Escutcheon II
Grand Helmet
Maximillion
Feather Mantle

High Brave, 85+ preferably
Minimal Faith, 20-

With the above set-up I've gotten hit rates as low as 1%. An enemy (or teammate for testing purposes) with concentrate will only have about an 8% chance of hitting you.

And, if any attack ever DOES hit you, then Grand Helmet and Maximillian will guarantee that you barely loose any of your total health. Magic attacks will also barely do ANYTHING with such low Faith. and if you ever feel the least bit threatened, just use an X-Potion or two and you're set.

Chakra runs off physical attack, so it's healing for a pretty good amount.

You forgot Samurai.

Samurai aren't all that good in the long run. My combos we're set-up not for the jobs, but for the overall effect.

Actually, with Katana's incredible tendency to get a crit. hit, and the best Katana (in the bonus dungeon), Samurai are VERY powerful.

they can be powerful, but not overall good. They have no "advantage" of any kind. Ninjas have speed, knights have Defense, Lancer's are tanks, mages have massive power. Samurai kinda have power, but moderate move, moderate speed (usually a bit on the slow side) and their abilities are alright.

They have no "advantage" of any kind.

They have evasion. Shirahadori/Swrdgrab is an extra check against physical attacks; think Jade Collar from XII.

Zeninage even at high levels and on multiples isn't that much more expensive than buying Ethers and Phoenix Downs. A bargain compared to Fuma Shuriken.

I take it those names are from the PSP version. another reason I'm mad about the PSP version....they changed a crapload of names. Blade Grasp is the samurai counter, and it's better to have a different job with it on.
