Title: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: pprincess on February 08, 2010, 12:04:46 AM
Okay there are several of us playing so let's post where we're at...

I'm only at level 7, but I have the property deed and am just hunting to get to level 8 where I can get the first hunt. I actually found another troll on Balda-whatever plain and beat it, but used up all my Revival Powders  :o

I'm a mage, and running out of MP is a serious issue. I need to have Mana Powders or whatever, but I need some serious cash. Heheh. I don't know what level I should be to move on with the story.

Can't wait for the multiplayer stuff!

Well, I am thus far in the Nordia Tunnels at every character Level 11. My character is a mage too, but I always control my avatar to make sure I don't run out of MP so quickly.

I'm at level 7 along with Eldore (whatever his name is) and Leonard, with Yulie at level 6. Takes forever to level up with just fighting the kibbles. I did fight a couple of the treants upon Sunny's recommendation. Near where they are located I found a chest with the Hickory Bow and decided to use it. Seems like my mage's magic does nearly the same damage with the bow as it does with the staff, yet I can use the bow for 0 MP cost, so added that to my character.

I agree it is a matter of MP management. My character was doing about 125 damage on the treants with Fireball, whereas the melee characters were hitting 16-28 damage. All told, I'm sure per battle the damage is about the same, but with magic I will just have fewer hits.

I have to say, I am really enjoying this game so far. Right now, I am Level 19 at Greede's Underbelly and I have 13 hours with this game clocked. This could go up well up there with my favorite RPGs, based on what I've played so far; it has a few (if any) Final Fantasy XII features in Level-5's own unique way. My only criticism is that there is no scan (Final Fantasy's Libra in a case) feature...

My avatar is always in battle, being a full-time mage. Using spells from Heal All to +Eruption, +Comet, etc.

Great minds think alike!! I'm too in Greede and what a beautiful city and the music is incredible here.

I too am a mage, level 19! I also am training some bow skills, when I run out of MP heheh.

I think I got your friend invite Ally, but I didn't recognize the email til too late and erased it, so send me another one.

I did the first guild task today and would have done the next one but there was nobody online to do it with in the multiplayer.

Post by: Ally on February 14, 2010, 04:54:34 AM
That is weird... I don't remember sending an invite before. It mustn't have been me. I'm Level 22 now, where I got my first game over in the game during a Boss Battle in Bunker Lode Caverns... stupid stupidly-named spells. D: Going to level up one level before taking it on again, that was harsh...

By the way, my main team consists of a switch between Leonard and Caesar, my avatar and Yulie. I found them to be the best characters in the whole game and I like their personalities. I still use Kara or Eldore, but not as much as the rest of the party... I once forgot to switch my mains out so Kara and Eldore could level up faster and my main party's levels were way ahead of them. Thank god you can gain EXP outside of battle.  :o

Leonard and Caesar are tanks, Yulie is the healer and my avatar (Allison) is my main mage; how I love the offensive spells.  :P

Post by: pprincess on February 14, 2010, 09:50:39 AM
I don't have a guy names Caesar yet, I'm assuming I'll get him now that I'm about to be done with Greede. Sheesh that whole quest took me two days to figure out. Ack. I was getting really, really annoyed with that quest.

I'm about level 19 or 20. I've been leveling everybody and finally Kara caught up so we're all about the same. My party is:

Leonard: Longswords
Eldore: Short Sword/Mace/shield
Yulie: Short Sword/shield
Kara: Spears/shield
me: Mage/Staff/Bow

When I run out of MP I just switch over to the bow for the rest of the battles. In the mountains up to Greede I found I could glitch out the trolls etc. and the dragon by moving back an little and they would get stuck and start glitching out. lol then they couldn't damage me while I was attacking.

I'm not too creative so far with Eldore and Yulie. Yulie is the main mage. I should have given them other weapon specialities but I guess I just didn't have any ideas of what to do with them. I wanted Yulie to have Axes but she can't equip those, so idea was spoiled there. I love the Harpoon on Kara, she can seriously hit with that thing.

Post by: Ally on February 14, 2010, 10:29:19 PM
Caesar is definitely a great heavy hitter and makes a good tank, I can almost guarantee that he will be a full-time party member for a reason I'm not going to spoil for you. In Final Fantasy terms, he's a Dragoon at first. At the moment, he is hitting more damage than anyone else; but I think that's because I gave him about three STR +2 skills. I was actually looking forward to him joining the party. I haven't been doing the quests, only completed one and I think that was the very first one.

Anyway, I just finished up Bunker Lode Caverns and I'm going to level up Eldore and Kara a bit in Balandor Plain. I hope more people get this game and post here because this is a very interesting and interactive RPG to miss out on.

Wow, dunno how you go so fast  :o I spent 2 full days just trying to get thru Greede. Am now ready for the boss fights just after. Yeah I will definitely continue using Caesar, he is a great character. His dreads remind me of Raven from Tales of Vesperia, down to the shirt with the belly showing!

Whew that sewer was a pain, though I did use the walkthrough finally just to save time.

I wanted to make Caesar a mage but he can't be one so I just kept the spear on him, though I already have Kara on spears and she has nearly all the skills already. I thought about an axe but nah, just didn't appeal, Caesar looks too good with a spear. So I have two spears, two swords, a longsword and then me with the staff and bow. The bow is working out nicely as an alternative when I run out of MP.

I've been doing healing spells with everybody, dunno if that's a good idea, but I figure it's better to have them, and decide whether to use them, than not and then be stuck. I'm pushing the full healing regime on Yulie, Ceasar, myself and the others as I have extra points left.

Agreed that this game is really a terrific one. Very deep with the customizing and all the online stuff. I don't have enough cash to do everything I want right now! I plan to spend time on everything. One concern that has arisen on gamefaqs already is that there are very few people online, and people are worried that after a couple of weeks there won't be many people at all because of the meh reviews the game received.

Finished Bunker Lode Caverns. I was lucky to defeat the 3 battles, with the last one Caesar had only 1 Heal Potion left so it was definitely close! In the first two battles I was well out of MP. I equipped the bow and just used my MP items to keep Yulie and Kara healing but eventually I ran out of MP items, and only Kara was left able to heal. I have not switched characters mid battle before and don't know if I can but I was about to try, that's for sure! Agreed that this is the most challenging battle so far.

I guess Caesar didn't need to stay home to take charge of any family business, lol. Big story problem there, I'd say. Also, didn't it seem odd that this last battle contained these huge fights but oddly the party couldn't take care of the guards around Cis.? Ack.

Well I'm off to stock up my severely diminished supplies. Ally, do you know what the Heroic Barrier is for?
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: Ally on February 16, 2010, 10:20:08 PM
Heroic Barrier nullifies one physical attack against all nearby party members. You will have to equip it to one of the Knights IIRC. I actually love it how if they take their eyes off of Cisna for two seconds, she is either kidnapped by Belcitane, Dregias or that other weird elf guy. Talk about your serious damsel in distress.  ::)

I died in The Castle's Underground, With the Knight and 2 Archers. ;-; I Was Skipping Monsters, Just to see the game's real difficulty. Im going to train a bit, and then go back. I Need to Get Geonet! D:

When Do I get Geonet, Anyways?
And, you don't think Its The SAME as FFXII's Beginning? And A Mix of FFXII and WoW?
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: Sentinel on February 17, 2010, 10:39:56 PM
The game overall, is not hard. There are some HUGE enemies with lot of HP in the game that can hurt your HP a lot. As long as you have one or two healers in your party at all times, you should be okay. The knights can hack and slash the crap out of everything, I only used that when I was truly in trouble though which was hardly ever. I would give it a medium difficulty rating, which is what everyone is giving it.

I forgot when you get GeoNet, I think it's after you complete
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
The game doesn't remind me of FFXII for some reason, I don't know where you all are seeing FFXII elements but I can't find them. The game's battle system reminds me of a MMO; so I think Final Fantasy XI would have fit better. Is it because of the princess aka Cisna aka FFXII's Ashe? I will have to give that more thought....

Already completed this game, I'm trying to unlock the trophies but they are like faeries in this game; non-existant.. I have only 1%.

I don't find the Saga before the castle a spoiler much, right? Well:

FFXII Story:
Vaan, no Parents, Works for a Shop, And needs to go kill a monster for the Supplys to come in for the shop. Vaan Goes to Sneak in the castle with the Supplies. And Goes to see a treasure, but someone else wants to steal it, but the castle is being invaded at the same time by the kingdom that The castle is befriending. Escapes underground, with the princess.

WKC's Story:
Leonardo, No Parents, works for a shop, needs to kill monsters to make sure the supplies come to the castle. He sneaks in the castle, but the kingdom the castle is befriending is invading, and goes underground with the princess, and goes to see the treasure (By accident), and people are planning to steal it.

Wow..... Seriously?!?!

The early part of this game is totally FFXII.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Yeah, it's familiar all right!

You'll get Geonet when you get out of the palace, there is a little moogle/rabbit-looking little guy by the exit who will set you up.

Edit: ACK you posted while I was typing! yeah I was laughing watching what a rip from FFXII this all is.

I finished up the game today! I love the ending theme song very much; I wasn't happy with how they replaced Travelers (the JP theme song of the game), but I'm glad they kept Chronicle Love.

Here I go with New Game+! or maybe I'll start the game over again, who knows? :D

I'm now on the Greaver. Just amazing how fast you finished the game, rinimt too has already finished one playthrough. I guess I mess around too much with buying the new armors, the quests, building my town etc. I was rather disappointed to arrive at Bracca with just under 7k, and I fought practically everything on the way there too!

I'm level 31 or 32, and GR 3 but there aren't any more quests to buy. My understanding now is that you have to keep fighting the finished quests over and over again to gain the new quests/ranks? I hope that's not true.

Had fun today doing a quest with RedChocobo, but alas an insect put me to sleep and I was unable to heal him during the quest. Hopefully we'll try that one again and avoid the insects this time.

I'm still a Mage, and am focusing on getting all the Divine spells, though really I'm an Elemental Mage. However the higher level Elemental spells cost massive amounts of MP to cast yet and frankly the lower level ones do more damage than the higher level ones. So often too the higher level spells which have status effects attached don't "stick" or the monster is immune anyway. Thus I haven't felt any big rush to max out the Elemental board until I have double the MP I have right now. Also, to get really high with GR eventually we probably end up learning the entire wheel of abilities.

Along with this I notice when using Leonard with longsword that the basic Hack skill does more damage than any of the skills using higher MP or ability chips. Odd. I haven't used combos much mainly because of the MP issue. I guess once I have more MP then using the combos to gain additional skills would be a good idea because I might actually have the MP needed to use a bunch of skills.

I was really upset about Kara, because after a while; I really started to use her.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
I had Kara nearly fully mastered with Spear skills and had her using Pentaslam and her "Highwind" combo (dealt 550 damage per use) all the way through Frass Chasm. Luckily I had Caesar around the same level or else I would have been really annoyed.

It also looks like new treasures are opened up through New Game Plus. But on the downside, your characters are at the same level you completed it on owning the crap out of everything for Zero EXP so I'm not having fun. Maybe I will just start a New Game.

I was about Level 37 when I completed the game so yeah...
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: pprincess on February 21, 2010, 07:55:51 PM
Yeah I have been using Kara a lot too but I kept everybody else at an equal level so that I wasn't relying on anyone in particular. Also, I had everybody subspecialize in the Divine arts so I didn't need to use just one healer. I learned from Emma in Last Remnant that if I like a character, start leveling everybody else!

I've been wondering about the Rebirth feature that comes into play at level 50. I don't entirely understand it or the point of doing it. But I wonder if I should do one before finishing the first game.

Rebirth, do you mean the Sinca Reincarnation Pilgrimage? I don't quite understand it either, but according to GFAQs members:
Quote
Q: What you have to do to reincarnate?
A: Get to level 50 and have gotten past Sinca Village story wise. There should be a quest at the very bottom that starts with Pilgrimage, choose it like any other quest. You'll be sent to Sinca Village with an npc to talk to that reincarnates you.

Q: Are skills reset when you New Game+/Reincarnate?
A: Not for New Game+, but for Reincarnation you get sent back to lvl 35, your skills are reset and you can redistribute the points as you see fit with an additional +40 for each Reincarnation up to 4 times (160 total points), but you can reincarnate as many times as you see fit. Your skill bars and combo's have to be re-done every reincarnation.

Thanks sooo much for this link! Not only does it have the Rebirth information, but it has a list of all the chests in New Game + with a description of the item and the location!

After reading this, it seems it would be worth it to get to level 50 or whatever in my first game, and do a rebirth well before the ending. That way I get the free extra points to access a different skill set. The problem with New Game + as Ally noted is that you don't get much in EXP from the early part of the game. Thus it would seem that if you plan to get another skill set, it would be better to do that before starting the new game so you have the new board basically maxed.

Seems there are some guild quests that can only be accessed on New Game + but I'm unclear what guild rank those quests are. Would help to know what rank they are because it would heavily play into my decision as to when to finish the first game. As of right now, unless those quests are GR 7 or lower, it would be better to stick with my first game for some time and grind to GR 7 or as high as possible, do any Rebirth I might want, and THEN go ahead and start New Game +.

Looking at the new chests, the stuff seems great now but really some of it is rather low, stats-wise. Also, virtually all of it can be created via Binding. So I guess if I start a New Game+ at GR 7 and can use the new items right away, it would be worth waiting because I wouldn't have to work so hard to create the stuff via Binding. But if I can't get to GR 7 on the first playthrough, it would be better to make the stuff instead so I can use it earlier in the second game (before getting to the desert city when binding starts).

I have been playing the game as well and have found it very addicting. I was up until 4 yesterday playing it! I am at the mobile city of Greede (I believe I spelled that correctly. I can't quite remember things from 4 in the morning. xD) and am loving the atmosphere. My main party is my Avatar who is a pure mage (who I think will become a Archer/Divine user after Reincarnation), Leonard who is my Longsword user, and Yulie is my Spear/Damage sponge.

I'm still cranking away and having a great time with the game.  ;D

Two days ago I decided to solo the Red Giant boss in Langish Desert at level 32. Had to use Heal II potions to heal because magic is too slow for solo battling. I thought I did pretty good because it only took a couple minutes to take him out, but only got an A rating on the battle. The Red Giant (Best Served Cold) seems to be one of the most popular quests for players looking for guild points because it has so little running and nothing to do other than just go to the boss battle. I meet a lot of higher level players in that quest. Some players who do that one a lot for the points don't even bother to run for the boss, they let one player do the running and just sit and wait until they get warped into the boss battle. Kinda lazy lol.

Right now I'm trying to find decent players to do the Greede Underbelly quests. These quests are a serious pain because you have to run around and open all kinds of gates just to get to the battles. My first attempt at the Exterminator landed me with a very high level mage who knew what he was doing with the gates. Alas, as we got to the boss battle, Geonet decides to error and booted me out. That was my best shot for an S rating on that battle. Since then I've done the quest 2 or 3 times, plus the other Greede quest in there, but still cannot get past A because of the gates. My problem is I don't have a guide or walkthrough for the gates and am having to rely on others. The gates are taking too long and so it is the time factor determining the grade. I really just want to get an S on both of those battles and I don't plan to do them again.

At the moment I'm at Guild Rank 5. I'm having more fun just getting the guild rank points, and have stopped the story just before Dogma Rift. I really need just a few more Silver Ores to make the Buster Maul staff. I really would like the Crystal staff but haven't seen the items come up yet for that one. Yesterday I saw somebody in the Red Giant quest with a GR 8+ staff, was really jealous!

Also, I update my Adventure Logs every day that I play, so if you want to read those, feel free to comment on them. So glad we'll have more players. I'm happy to help with quests, there is always incentive to repeat quests because the points all count toward the next guild rank, no matter what quest you do.

Just recently bought this game, and I'm Level 13 heading through the Nordia Tunnels. My character is a Spear x Elemental Magic hybrid. I'm at GR2 and I think I overleveled a bit with the Balastor Plain quest (forgot the name, I think it was Brave Litton's Plight), as my Level 13 avatar is way ahead of Level 10 Leonard and Level 9 Yulie and Eldore.

Yay got my Buster Maul!!

Today I've had a Base Camp open all day and am still here. It's set for levels 31-40. I was surprised at how many people have been here all day. I've got serious crowds in here! People coming and going and questing together. This is MUCH more productive than trying to find a quest just from the World Map.

So, if you want to stop and visit, definitely come by. I really recommend opening your own base camp if you want to find people for quests.

Heh forget the story for now, this is too much fun. Questing with people from all over Europe and Canada.
_________________________________

Yay!! I'm now up to GR 7!!!! woot! Two days of questing online with people I went from GR 3 up to 7 heheh. Tomorrow I will probably hit GR 8 maybe.

Got a great group of folks visiting my base camp, the room gets so full I get complaints people can't get in. I've now started a GR 7 room too.

But I found out one thing: the game does have a level cap and an EXP cap in relation to the story. You can do guild quests and continue to get guild points, but eventually you cannot gain any more EXP or Skill points or levels until you go on with the story. I've stopped now at level 40 before Dogma Rift. Everything stopped gaining except for guild points. Which is ok because the requirement now for GR 8 is 900,000 points. GR 9 will be 2 million. Yikes!

Right now I have a super group of people for regular questing all about at my GR. You can do quests that you don't have yet as long as there is no GR requirement. I'm GR 7 and I can do the GR quests if other people start them, but I cannot buy the actual quests until I move on with the story. The grade for the ones I've done are still saved and they will show up when I buy the quests. So I now have to move on with the story or else I cannot go further with guild quests.

Mainly I've been doing support mage-ing because everybody is a tank or a fighter of some sort and you have to have the buffs and healing spells to do the higher level quests. I'm really impressed with the support spells like Inspire+ and Haste+. When I cast these on the damage dealers they DOUBLE their damage because of Inspire and the Haste makes them go so fast that we hardly take damage. The downside to mage-ing is that the bosses go right for the mages so I'm now asking the damage dealers to try and get the aggro spells to pull focus onto them. Otherwise the bosses go straight for me and kill me quick and leave the damage dealers alone. Kinda like Last Remnant where the big baddies go straight for the mages and silence them etc. So the team has become important. I've met some higher level players though with a mix of spells and they are able to do more solo-ing because of having their own set of spells. But right now it's cool, the damage players are very grateful for having a mage and so they buy me mana potions to keep my MP up. I've returned the favor by giving them my Charge Drinks which I don't really need. Fun stuff!

Today I finished the story because I couldn't get any more quests or EXP. Took me 8 hours to figure out the final areas, and the Gamefaqs walkthrough is totally WRONG and the forums acknowledge that. So do not use that walkthrough if you need help at the end. Oddly I went thru most of the final areas still not gaining anything. Then in fighting one of the giant type monsters I got knocked back and fell down some rocks and couldn't get back up them. Luckily the two remaining characters were able to finish the battle. Then I had to switch out my avatar and switch in somebody else. After putting my character in reserve, it started gaining EXP again. I don't know if that was a glitch that was fixed by putting my character in reserve or if having my other characters level up a couple times got my avatar growing again.

So I finished out the game and then reloaded the cleared save to buy the new level 7 quests. The armor at the base camp shops is so much higher than what was available in the story at the end. Wow! I have a few buddies to play with for the level 7's and hope to meet more.

Yeah, I did find the final part of the temple annoying. At least the enemies were easy. I took on the Final Boss again today after leveling my party to about Level 40 and started New Game+ again so I can get the treasures. ^_^

I also started a new file. This time it will be challenge based where I will not be allowed to use the Knights, stick to the party's original equipment, and have level restrictions. Should be fun, eh? :P

Cool I'm glad you're still playing!

As for me, I'm now GR 7 and within about 200k of GR 8. I've met a LOT of people on the multiplayer. Some are very good, some are annoying. The bosses now are getting more difficult and people have to pretty much settle into a job or skill set at least until GR 9+. After that it's much easier to do the lower level quests solo and so you can get by with just your own skill set.

At this point there definitely needs to be a tank in the party with Provoke or Threaten to draw the boss' attention, and then block using a shield. The attackers can then attack away without getting hurt. Bosses now go straight for the mage with the opening attack and as a mage you have to be ready.

I've taken a Support Mage role as it seems to be a good way to go for multiplayer. Having both Elemental and Divine magic gives all the MP you can get and all the shields and buffs and healing spells.

The buffs are totally crucial now. I have to open a battle with Haste+ to even have a shot at staying ahead of the battle. Then I follow with Inspire+ to double the attack damage of the party. Then I might use Fortify+ or a magic shield or just set up for healing.

The biggest challenge for me is A) staying alive after the initial hit, and then B) MP management. Online players vary a lot in what they do. As a support mage, the spells are so expensive the cast that I can't afford to do much unnecessary fighting/healing in a quest because I need to recover MP. MP potions level II and III have to be created, they can't be bought right now, and this is a time consuming endeavor. Some parties are very good about sharing their unneeded potions or being willing to wait while my MP recovers, or they can fight without needed the extra buffs outside of the boss battles. What's annoying are the players that don't wait for my MP and start the battle and expect to be healed/raised/buffed when I have no MP.

This will all get better a couple guild ranks from now, hopefully, because I will have level II quests to pick from that will be easy compared to the level III. I still don't have the next upgrade to my staff which is badly needed. I need the Levinstone and haven't been able to score one, so I'm saving the money to buy one. I could start New Game+ and get the next staff I need from a chest, but then I wouldn't be able to buy the GR 8 quests until I finish the game again. The quests only show up after certain story points, not just because of your GR. I don't think I want to finish the entire game all over again just for one staff and a good set of armor when at level 8 I will need the next set of equipment that isn't in the game except via Binding.

But I have a great group of friends to play with, when they are ON that is. One has been using Provoke plus blocking, and so the battles are so smooth with him doing that, and then I do the support and the attackers use lots of combos. The challenge will be keeping friends to play with, as people move on to other games it might be hard to find people to play online with. But I hope to get to at least GR 10 before quitting.  ;D

I just beat the Three Gigas, then the mix. Pretty easy.
One problem Im having is to decide what my Character should be. With a Mage, my mp depletes too fast, and with a spear, not enough damage.

If you become a mage, focus your skill points on Staff Skills, Divine Magic Skills and Elemental Skills since they have MP+. If you want to become a warrior, it would be best to focus in the fields of Axes and Longswords. They deal the most offensive damage and have a number of STR+ stats.

Mana Potions aren't too expensive and enemies give a lot of guilder, so I wouldn't think MP problems should be much.
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: pprincess on March 01, 2010, 06:25:03 AM
Mana Potions only give 25 MP. I now have 305 MP and so the regular potions are nothing. It costs 24 MP to cast Inspire+. Major problem when you need to cast it multiple times on a single quest. When you're at the level 5+ guild quests and up you need these spells.

Attackers have a similar problem. Charge Drinks are easy to buy but they only give 1 ability chip. For combos you need 4+ chips at a time. Charge Drinks II and III have to be created, they can't be bought yet. Short swords have a spell to gain a couple chips but then I see players casting it over and over and over just to get enough to do a combo.

I learned at few skills in Spear Section, so I can Have an Attack weapon while I learn the MP ups.

Today, I JUST reached the City of Greede. :D
Its pretty awesome..... But I may think I'm under-leveled....
Anyone else just skip and run trough the big boss monsters in the wild that appear in big red dots?

Sure you can run thru. You will have to level up at some point, but like any game you can tell quick whether the ordinary enemies in a new area are too difficult. The good news is those trolls and treants are always there, so you can go in and fight them anytime. After Greede, you can go back to earlier areas in the game and the enemies will be a little harder, so those areas become useful again as well.

I'm just under 200k left til GR 8. Got a super team to work with, and am hoping they will stick with me til GR 9, after which as a mage it may be more possible to solo quest.

For my low level challenge, I just beat Ahwanee at Level 6 and boy was it fun.  :o Till the part where he used his charge attack and it K.Oed Yulie before she could heal herself. Thank god I had revival powders. Now time for Nordia Tunnels.

Also, is it possible if we can post our avatars here? I think it would be interesting to see each and every one of our characters. :) Now, to find a camera...

New Game Plus, I am pretty much ignoring enemies and heading for the treasures. I am on Graydall Plain.

I just got that thing the duke wanted from the black market at Greed, and already delivered it to the duke. Now Caesar has joined my party and we are in search for that guy (forgot his name) who is in charge of that giant monster.

I played with allot off people online already, and i have seen many guilds passing by. Is it an idea that FFT starts a guild at WKC. We already have a club in home so why not expand to WKC ass well?

I'm seriously post game at this point, at GR 8 and only about 600k points away from GR 9. I've completed a New Game + to the point of being up to the final area of the game. I don't need the Doom Armor as a mage so I didn't bother going thru the final area. But it is always there if I want it. All of the best Mage stuff is in the Greede Underbelly and the Staff of Kukulain is in Bunker Lode. I ran thru the game as others have done just to get the stuff.

At this point, the game becomes questing for items to upgrade to the higher levels of armor and weapons. The very high level staves are soo cool!

I've done maybe 3 of the GR 8 quests because it is getting more difficult to find people at this level willing to do those quests. Most people seem to drop the game before this because of the daunting 2 million points needed for GR 9. People at lower levels don't care too much to quest with higher level people because we can kill everything more quickly and people of higher levels are doing their level quests for items that they need.

Farming towns becomes an issue too, because some items are only available in high level towns. So collecting Favorite towns and questing from them to reset the farming is an activity. Also building my own town in order to have the items I need is a strong activity. All that takes money.

To spice things up a little, I have been questing nekkid, that is, without armor. Unlike other RPGs, your armor changes all have different designs and you can see them all. And you can quest without armor in your skivvies, and as a girl, in
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
. In fact, the
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
are all different designs plus there are
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
and
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
. I'm seriously working on getting the Queen's Skirt which consists of
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

(Goes and looks at the box) This game has a T for Teen rating. I didn't put this stuff in the game!

So it's fun to do lower level quests without armor and in fact the charge circle goes faster without the weight of the armor. Most fun are the Best Served Cold runs which are the most popular for quick GR points because it's just a short run to the boss. It's one of the most popular for even people at my level to do because it's fast. I enjoy the reaction of starting one of those without armor. People either laugh or just join in the fun and
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Hey, I didn't put this in the game!

I'm working hard to raise my cotton plants for the cloud cotton bolls to upgrade the GR 8 armor. When I hit GR 9 I can get/wear the Queen's Skirt and I have only one item to get for that.  :P

I am at GR4, i don't totally get that farming and all. BTW just got the second Arc, is now allready my favo character, Caesar FTW.
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: pprincess on March 08, 2010, 04:18:54 AM
There are many items in the game that can only be obtained in towns. For example, I need Cloud Cotton Bolls to increase the strength of my armor. These come from the dandelion looking plants in towns. The plants must be a certain level to yield these cotton bolls. I need a lot of the Cloud ones. I'm trying to get my cotton to that point, but it is slow to upgrade my town and the skills of the people. I do have a friend's town who has very advanced plants so that's great. During the game the towns aren't so important, the game has equipment up to GR 8 in New Game+. Ranks above 8 have access to very cool equipment, but you have to create it yourself. So, that is where the towns come into play.

So how do you upgrade your town i don't get that part?

Right now i am trying to get the Arc of Grazeal (if i am correct that was his name), which means i am in the Dogma Rift. I also just heard the story of the old man. Its kinda sad for him if you think about it. Oh well.

BTW pprincess, that quest that we took so long to do, already did it on S rank. Its easy when you figure it out. My ava is lvl 33, Sword+shield and healing. Wanna join on quests together tonight anyone?

Yeah it was weird how the room filled up. I could create a password room, but then everybody would have to message me first for the password. Dan and I ended up doing Dragon's Heat the two of us because Galadril left just after you did.

I'm GR 9 and the game is all gravy, just great fun. Very addicted and my roommate is annoyed. LOL

I've just done my first Rebirth  :D so difficult to go back to level 35, giving up my HP and my high level equipments, but really I only took a good day or so of play to get to level 42. Two of us did this at the same time and then went into King of Dragons II quest and just killed the elementals which will give you around 618 exp each if you solo, and half that if you're with a friend. So you can level up quick again.

The new weekly online quests have started. We did the GR 7 one and then tried the GR 9 one. The 7 went fine but we got kicked hard in Heat Waves. I hope that quest stays around til I beat it, but even not beating it I got enough rare items dropping from the monsters we managed to kill before dying. If you aren't at GR 7 yet, crank it until you are. Some of the new online quests will be available a week only so you don't want to miss out.

Also, you may have seen that there is a contest March 19-26. If you play one of the new quests that week, you will get an entry for a drawing for free WKC figurines. So definitely plan to play that week!

Questing, questing, questing. Am level 46 now again after my rebirth and had hoped to get to level 47 tonight, but I got booted off Geonet 3x. I don't know if it's Geonet, even though it says Geonet error, or if I'm frying my PS 3 on this game. My PS 3 seems to be working pretty hard lately, especially since the new quests were added. Or maybe I just play too many hours.

So, I shut off the PS 3 in disgust after getting booted out of a quest. I hope my friends didn't die as it was Dragon's Heat II. Once I get to level 47 I'm back into my best mage armor and can hopefully get to level 50 again for another rebirth. I'm going for Longswords this time for the HP ups though I still intend to be a mage. My MP is coming along nicely but I really need the HP now or I won't make it in level 10 quests.

Post by: pprincess on March 23, 2010, 04:41:06 PM
Heheh I guess you didn't give up your game, eh Sixty?

I'm about 1 million away from Guild Rank 10. I have the GR 9 armor minus the boots for the mage, and have been using materials to create other weapons, just for fun. I've rebirthed 2x and will probably do at least one more before GR 10, as it really helps a lot with stats. I'm now about 700 HP, and well over 400 MP. Still have my regular questing group at GR 9, and do pick-up battles from various towns for the points and materials.

My town is level 7 and I've found some good information on town building. There are armor sets you can unlock from your town based upon your specialty. Gamefaqs has a FAQ on the different sets available and what specialties you need in your town to get the armor. To unlock a set, you must get level 50 on the set of town skills. I'm doing the mage set, so I have my mages right now around lvl. 45-48. I've hired every mage I have access to so far.

The recommendation is that you get your town armor as quickly as possible, focusing only on the jobs that will get you the armor set. Get rid of everything else as it just uses polyn. Also, there are only a set number of harvests you can get per georama level. As a level 7, my town has a max of 5 items that are harvestable after a completed quest. It doesn't matter whether you add more items to your town, only 5 will be active at a time. So, no need to waste polyn on extra items until your georama rank is higher.

After you unlock the armor set you want, then you can unlock the rare items in your store. To do this, you must choose a major job to keep in the level 40s, and then match that with the sub-jobs. Right now I'm doing mage, and the sub-jobs for this are Timber, Crystals and Beasts. So I would have the mage jobs at level 40s, and then Timber, Crystals and Beasts in the level 20s. Doing this unlocks rare items to buy in the stores that you can't get any other way.

Lots of people focus their towns on mining because of needing the ores etc. But unless you really want the miner's apron armor set, it's not worth doing until you get the set you want. Better to focus on the set you want first, and use other high level towns to harvest materials you don't have in your town.

Hehe started the game today and I've got to the point where I've obtained the knight and started the journey. I'm currently around level 7. So far its a pretty decent game.

Started out by mastering as much healing spells as possible for my avatar and I gave the rest some new fighting abilities. You can't start early enough with mastering the art of healing magic ;D

Can't say I've done much more than that. For the rest I've mainly been trying to figure out a thing or 2 with the battle system.

haw haw you best hurry on up because Sixty is going to creep into your house in the middle of the night to steal his game back, he is just itching to play, I can tell.  ;D

I'm now Guild Rank 10, just did 3rd Rebirth yesterday and am at level 37 right now. I'll get to level 39 by tonight so I can equip my beefed up Crystal Rod. I haven't tried any of the new GR 10 quests yet due to the rebirth, and also because my regular party is 1-2 million away from GR 10. My rebirth now will give them a chance to catch up a little. They all have made much of my 10 and are now feeling like they had better start grinding the GR points again.

One of my original team members returned to the game now and he's GR 8 and will have to really crank to get to at least 9. Our new FFT member deathspaladin is one of my teammates on WKC. Anyway our team has been together since GR 3. There are soo many benefits of working with regular people who are concerned about each other's progress, and are willing to help grind quests with you, especially for item drops. I can't suggest highly enough to create a base camp or hometown room open only to people of your guild rank so you start meeting people at your level early on, make friends, and then you can tell who is still playing down the road. Even now I do a lot of pick-up battles out of other hometowns so that I continue to meet people at my level. There are fewer as you rank up, so recognizing each other and establishing yourself as helpful and skilled pays off when you really need to do a quest.

Nahh he will at least be busy with FFXIII for the coming week. Besides at the end of the week its my birthday so if the game proves itself worthy I will have a copy around that time, especially since I figured out that Resonant of Fate isn't really my type of RPG (which saves me another 60 bucks).

Yesterday I met up with Da_Cloud in my hometown and I guess we heard each other's voices for the first time, something he probably won't want to hear again haha  ;D  We did Brave Litton I and I tried to kill as little as possible lol. Much fun!

At GR 10 and working on new equips when I can, but so many of my friends who want to quest are lower rank than I and so I'm not getting into the GR 10 rooms as much as I would like. Still with my regular team, but deathspaladin quit our team suddenly and without word and we're coping and trying to restructure his role. Somebody else will now be tanking. I did my 4th rebirth and it's a sweet one, because you get 300 points and so far I'm happy with my build. No plans to rebirth anytime soon, but with Lost Children III I can solo for over 1000 EXP per kill making leveling up after a rebirth a single day affair.

Too busy questing lately to post here. I'm GR 11 and about 4.4 million points away from GR 12, which will be about 4-5 days away. The rest of my team is GR 10 and that many points or less from GR 11. I decided to slow up a bit so I'm still hopefully GR 11 when a couple of them get there. It's too lonely otherwise trying to find people to quest. Most GR 11 people I found out grind Big Red III just to get to GR 12 when all the level III quests are open, and you can quest with anybody up to GR 15 (highest rank in the game).

Still loving this, and we have a team of four, two of which I've been with since GR 3. We quest pretty much every day, give or take depending upon everybody's work schedule. My town is still level 7, and is now Lumber 40's, Cotton 40s, and a dash of Chef to add Insect Livers for making Elixirs.

Actually there are TONS of new players right now, more so than a month ago. I have been hearing from a lot of these players that they bought this game either after finishing FFXIII or giving up on it. My town has had a GR 7-8 room the past few days, I don't know any of the people in it, lol. I'm not even in that room. Lots of GR 7-8 people around in many other towns I've been in too.

What? Sixty is your brother  :o Well he doesn't play anymore anyway,  ::) so it's only righteous that you have the game now.

I'm GR 12 now and about 1/2 way to GR 13. I have the GR 12 Artemis Bow and the Staff of Camaxtli, which is leveled up to 10. Am working on better armors though am getting along fine when I mage. I rebirthed for the fifth time last week and added a bow build as maging becomes less useful at higher ranks.

We found out today from Level 5 that WKC 2 will be allowing importing of your avatar, Guild Rank, weapons and gear with all stats, items and cash.

Ultima, you are on my friends list and you've been there for quite awhile now. My PSN friends list anyway. I'm sure you must be on my WKC friend's list, what is your game name on that?

I've been GR 13 for several days now and only 8 million away from GR 14 :D Still playing every night and still play with my same buddies from way back when we were GR 3, along with others I've met since then.

I can supposedly update my town to a level 8 town but it costs 470,000 to do that and I just haven't had the money so I'm raising my cash now. I have about 250k, will take several days as I have to buy elixirs to use on the longer boss battles, and the insect livers cost around 3800. I have a good supply of Cordeceps from my town and harvesting in quests, so it's just the livers and the cost to make them. So around 4k each and I go thru at least 5 every day that I play.

Once I update my town I can boost my georama armors from +5 to +20 on the stat and then they go to 40 DEF up from 20. I plan to use the Lily Rings for sure because I just can't find any decent hands in the binding shop for mages. The Valkyrie set is out and the hands have INT but I need one more Fire Dragon Skull+ and that is the worst item to get in the game. In the past month I've got ONE. Tried grinding Dragon's Heat III but days of that got frustrating so I just decided to forget about the Valkyrie guards. They are temporary armor and will go away in another week, just not too likely I can get another skull by then. The drop rates are horrible for things you need at GR 12+, so expect a lot of slow going if you play this long.

But I'm still having fun at it. Gonna finish my rebirths at GR 15 when I have nothing else to do so I have a Platinum trophy. That will give me the crown when WKC 2 comes out.

Just finished collecting the GR7/8 armour from the New Game+ playthrough. Also realised I'm built far too defensively to solo even the lower GR (4, 5 and 6) missions right now for S.

And I meant on your WKC friends list Pprincess, it still says pending approval.

I don't think it's possible for most players to solo missions until much later. I'm GR 13 and I was able to solo Big Red II, but barely, which is a GR 8 or 9 I think. Really the main builds that can solo are one handed sword, and later on longsword. At GR 15, for the more difficult quests, probably only one handed sword with shield can solo.

Ultima, I have a B-mail message from you asking for friend but there is nothing in my Friend Request. You'll have to send that one again, it's separate from B-mail.

Keep in mind new players that playing with higher guild rank players is not an advantage. The game is set up that the higher GR player will get more EXP and better drops. So if you're hoping for a good drop or EXP, don't play with higher GR players because they will steal everything, and not on purpose. Try and find players closer to your own GR. I'm happy to quest with y'all but keep in mind it's for fun, or to help try and S rank, it won't help you to get a good drop and you'll get far less EXP from every kill if I'm nearby.

Ultima, saw you in Senibo's town but I got back in just as you left. Sorry about that. Am headed off to bed now, unfortunately.  :-\

Got my Hellion mail up past 5 finally, now it's at 6. That armor is crazy difficult to level up. Had to get two Magebeast Mask+, next I need Fiend Evil Eye+.

I've stopped leveling up most of my stuff though. After hearing that WKC 2 will allow us to transfer over our armors, but they are stripping out the enhancements, I'd rather not enhance anything more. Instead I'm going to make the weapons and armors I want for WKC 2 but I'm not leveling them up and instead will keep the items needed to level them up, because items will transfer over if they are fewer than 200 of an item. If I keep the items I can enhance the equipments and I'm not losing anything. I need 3 more Artemis Bows and whatever else I want at high rank and I need to bind lower level equips too. I'll put a +1 elemental on the bows so they're useful now, but that's all.

Oh wow, the new Swallowtail quest is AMAZING. It's a greavers quest so you get two toxic/lethal greavers in the quest which has given me many items that are difficult to farm normally from Research Assistant quests. I had a single Lethal Gallstone from yesterday and today was able to get another from the new quest, and then I made the Kukulkan Robe, a GORGEOUS robe. Also got Pestilence Sacs to level up my Bloody Coat and Bloody Pants, another hard item to get. Was able to make the Kukulkan Pants and Cuffs. I have the badges for the shoes, but must farm 40 Deviltails (branches), which is time-consuming but not the worst since I can just harvest a spot near the start of Ringleader III. The shoes will give me more INT and make up somewhat for not getting the Valkyrie Guards. I was just unable to get that last Fire Dragon Skull + to make those.

A friend of mine hit GR 12 just yesterday and really wanted the Valkyrie Mail and it was perfect for her short sword build. She had the Merc badges and I was committed to spamming King of Dragons III for her to get the 5 Aged Dragon Wings+ she needed to make the mail. We got her 3 of the 5, but then Level 5 released the new quests today, a day early, and the Valkyrie Mail was gone. My friend was so upset she exited the game immediately and wouldn't come back. Later she messaged me saying she might just get the new Kukulkan Guards which also have Agility like the Valkyrie Mail. I'm glad she didn't quit for now over that, but I understood her disappointment as that is the best armor for her until GR 15. I had a few tears myself over not getting the guards but that skull eluded me this time. Well maybe next time they release the Valkyrie, or when it is permanently added, I can get the guards.

Well I'll be running the new greavers Swallowtail quest for the next two weeks until it is gone, to get as much greaver stuff as possible. We did the new Wind Dragon quest too, but that's a permanent one I think, so not as much of a rush. It's supposed to be better for Wind Dragon skulls, but I'm not too fixed on getting the GR 12 Wind Dragon Staff, sheesh, 4 skulls. Maybe I'd rather just keep the skulls, I don't know. There will be a GR 13-15 weapon set coming out in early August and apparently those weapons require crazy hard to get items to make them, so maybe I'll hold off if I get any more skulls.

I got enough Aged Dragon Wing+ myself today to make a 3rd Artemis bow, just need to farm the Mithril Ores. Woot, got lots done today!

Hit GR 14 today and did my nekkid Big Red run with one of my teammates and the other joined us later in the evening. Such a joy to do my rank up with my teammates who have all been together since GR 3. Other folks joined in, people I've met since GR 10 and all hang out in various towns usually every day. I upgraded my town to level 9 but it's offline, I still have only my GR 7 town online because I'm changing it constantly to unlock the level 9 coins for the hidden GR 14 armors.

At GR 13 I only upgraded the Lily Rings to level II, and didn't do much more with the Georama armor sets as the defense is so poor on them.

The new greavers quest is so great and I have the Kukulkan shoes finally after two days of deviltail farming, and they are really super. I'm going to get GR 14 unlockable pants to finally replace my GR 11 Fire Dragon pants I'm still wearing. I still cannot find any decent hands/cuffs/guards now that the Valkyries are out of reach, but the Arcanum Cuffs at GR 15 will be fine. I don't think I want to spend a ton of cash on GR 14-15 armors because they are super expensive just to make, not to mention the rare items needed to upgrade them. I'd rather have rare items in my file than spend them on the armors given WKC 2 will be stripping off enhancements. But we'll see. I just want one decent offense mage armor set, one healing set, and one bow set.

I'm already healing for 536 HP on a Heal III spell, and hitting 1500+ damage on a Cerberus with one Icebreaker spell. I have 2 Artemis bows and could make the 3rd if I can just get a few more Mithril Ores. Today I also got a second Coronastone from Ringleader III, so I could make the Apollo's Bow, but I think I will save the stones for the upcoming GR 13-15 weapons to be released DLC sometime end of July. I've heard I will need 3 Coronastones for the bow at that level and I've heard the bow will be insanely damaging so I'll hang on to the stones for awhile yet, they are not going anywhere.

Oh yeah, and I backup my save file daily on a flash drive. Never know when my PS 3 might break down and I don't want anything to happen to my save.

So yay for GR 14!

Just managed to hit GR 8 and 20 S Ranks. In the middle of deciding whether I should bother with a new set of armour until GR 10 and just upgrade the one I have at the moment. I already managed to bond a Demon's Sword which I can use for my first Rebirth build at GR 9.

Managed to buy enough Green Angel Coins to get the Dominion Braccae (INT pants), but am lacking one Fierce Iron Heart to get them to +10.

I don't know if I'm just getting fried on this game at GR 14, or if the news about WKC 2 stripping augments has got me a bit apathetic about leveling up any more equips. I mean, I've already got 259 INT with my mage gear. I can get over 300 if I want, but what for? What I have is sufficient. My heal gear has me healing 537 on a Heal III, I can get that over 600 if I want, but again, why? It's sufficient now as it is. Maybe I should just forget about equipments and just get to GR 15 and focus on the rebirths I need to finish up, grind money for the trophy and be done with it. I'm not even sure I want any GR 15 gear anymore. Costs too much and is a pain to level up.

Today there was some sort of outage on the PS server or the Geonet server so I was unable to get online most of the day. So I took the time to work on my file.

My current file is a 3rd playthrough because somebody wanted photos of Kara in the Lily set, so I ran thru the game again to get her and take the photos for my Adventure logs. So the file was at Dogma Rift and I now want a cleared save so I ran thru the ending again. It was funny, I was hitting over 500 damage with my staff!! rofl, most of the time I'm lucky to hit 200 in level 3 quests, so this was fun to just hit stuff. Finishing this up took a half hour.

Still could not get on Geonet, so decided to spend the day doing one of my remaining rebirths. This was #6 for me, but the only skill trees I've mastered thus far have been staff, elemental and divine. So today I did 100% bow and axe, and put points into staff and elemental as well. I'll be mostly bow on this rebirth, but I can equip my healing gear at level 50 and heal as before. I just won't have the higher level elemental spells I was using, just the lower level ones like Flame Lance. I don't have the sigils either which doesn't make the bow build as good as it could be, so it's mainly a STR/DEX build this time. That goes well with the axe augments.

I won't keep this build for long though. I will do a short sword/longsword build next and still keep the healer bit going. I've been working on the short swords but am not ready yet as I need some gear to wear with short sword. After that I will only need spear, so I'll do a spear/bow build. If I'm not totally sick of the game by then, I'll do another with bow/elemental/divine like I just had before today.

Okay, I've played through this game 4 times and Sargatanas can still kick my butt.  ::) I gave Heal Potions to Caesar, and I thought that would transfer over to his knight. This is the only time in the game which I ever get a game over. >_<
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: pprincess on June 14, 2010, 08:38:38 AM
Caesar will need Heal II potions at minimum. Assuming you've checked that they are in his inventory, hit the Select button and his items will reorder so the potions are at the top and you don't have to scroll 2-3 pages of items to find the potions during the battle. They will then be right at the top.

You can also make Heal III potions at the binding post, if your binding rank is high enough.

I did my Swords rebirth today and maxed long and short swords. Ack the lower level ones did so little damage at level 35, I put points back into elemental so I could level up faster. Doing 100 damage on a sprog in Lost Children III will not level anybody up fast. Bow was ok, but nothing beats Flame Lance or Ifrit's Curse for 200-300 damage at that level, well over swords. But a swords friend of mine today did his rebirth at the same time as a mage and found he just couldn't deal with that, so he put his sword back on to gain his levels back. I guess it's what you're used to that works. He didn't have an appropriate staff anyway.

I've noticed the text box, particularly Osmund in Baccea. In fact I'm there now lol.

Finally hit Guild Rank 15 so I'm now the highest rank attainable in the game. Made the Oberon Slops but right now don't have any other plans for GR 15 gear but you never know....I need to grind cash for the 10 million trophy. After that I'll use the money for the two binding trophies I still need. I have one rebirth left for the skills trophy and that's all to platinum the game. Still plan to update my online town to the level 10 that it is offline, and will add the level 10 NPCs to the town, keeping basically the same design I have now.

Then I will do a rebirth to get the build I want for WKC 2. I haven't decided fully on this build yet. I've heard that WKC 2 will require that party members really focus on different jobs, it won't be possible to defeat bosses with a whole party of longswords. Right now I'm short sword. I have the bows for the bow build. It's just whether I want to do bow/mage or bow/short sword or try to do all 3 in some way. Just that I'm set up for elemental bow rather than STR/DEX bow. Would be better to do the STR/DEX build along with short sword so I don't need to get the elemental sigils but we'll see. I have all the mage gear except for GR14-15 pieces so if I plan to mage I'll want to make some more stuff. Just haven't decided what my final build will be.

I'm surprised my copy of White Knight Chronicles came early. I'm playing the enhanced version of White Knight Chronicles and I'm not going to play the second until Thursday for certain reasons.  ::) Enhanced it is. Everything in the battle system looks so polished and updated. It looks like nothing has changed though.

I can't read Japanese for the life of me but I am actually quite good at determining which skills are which. It's actually funny. Whatever, I am at Nordia Tunnels and I'm determined to finish this game by tomorrow. I will play all night if I have to and risk a yellow light of death, I want to play the second one.  :-[

Hi Ally, looking forward to hearing more about your WKC 2 game. In fact I checked this topic first tonight.  ;D Eventually I'm sure we'll hear more about what really does transfer over from the regular game.

Today Geonet was down all day, probably due to WKC 2 launching in Japan. I used the time to do my last rebirth to finish the skill tree trophy. All I had left was Spear. However, I distributed my points so that I got everything I was using from the Short Sword tree, and also got most of the skills from the Bow tree. I put extra into Agility so actually my Short Sword build will be better this time than it was when I did the two sword trees completely.

I'm going to go back to Short Sword and then will at least have the option to do bow. My bow won't be the best possible bow build because I have the Artemis bows which are magic-based. I really need the sigils from the Elemental tree to make the most of the damage and I just couldn't do those with the Spear tree needing to be 100%. Well at least I got the skills trophy now, and can do a final rebirth later.

I'm still toying with what I want to start WKC 2. I have heard that magic and bow will be necessary to hit flying monsters in the second game. Mage is supposed to have dark spells for undead monsters. I may actually want to mage for awhile. But then I suppose I'd be back at level 35 anyway for WKC 2 with 0 skills so it doesn't really matter now. It's mainly a decision about what, if any, other equipments I want from GR 15 to prepare for the second game. As it is, I don't have GR 14/15 gear for the bow so that's a couple million right there. Some of that equipment works for mage luckily. Otherwise, I'll probably try and make the Shoot Garb II but won't level it up.

Sooo. Next I'm doing the 10 million trophy. I'm only at 1.8 million so a long ways to go yet. After I reach 10 million, I'll use the money to do the binding trophies. Those will be the last thing to platinum the game. I can earn about 2-3 million per week so should only take a few weeks of just normal playing. If I grind Big Red III a few times at the beginning of each play session, that will shorten it up a bit.

Bumping this topic back up because White Knight Chronicles 2 as well as WKC Origins is out in Europe, so people might want to share their progress on that. We've also got some new members who have this game and may want to share their progress of the first game.

While WKC2 is coming out here in the US in August (or September, according to D3), I'm skeptical on the WKC Origins release. Also, about that Cienne glitch that many have raised eyebrows about, it wasn't in the Japanese version. So where in the world could it have possibly come from? Not to mention it's pretty mind-boggling that the testers could have missed something as obvious as that in the beginning of the game.

BTW, has anyone played through the remastered first game?

I also noticed that i can link WKC Origins to this game. Anyone knows what you get if you do that? Since i cant find it anywhere or maybe i already read over it. I am probably gonna get Origins after the expensive month thats called November. ;D

Go to Gamefaqs for WKC II and check the Cheats section. Somebody posted there a list of unlockables from Origins. Mainly the items will be accessories and they aren't that great. What you CAN do though is import your town on Geonet over to Origins which will be useful if you have a level 10 town.

Sweet, good to know for when i get Origins.

Today i played online with my little brother (TigerzHead), he got the game for himself today. We did some a few starter missions and i noticed that they became harder to complete from the original WKC. Was awesome, but its harder now to get to S rank.

I'm currently playing through the first one for the first time after it was recommended to me by a friend on GameFAQs, currently in Greede heading to the Bunker Lode Caverns. My avatar is an axe-elemental user who spams Heavy Cannon over and over again lol.

I made Leonard a sword-divine user, Yulie a bow-divine, Eldore a longsword-elemental, Kara a sword-red mage and Caesar a spear-divine. I'm so far enjoying this game, my only complaint being that the... dialogue is way too cheesy:

"Somehow, I don't think he wants a belly rub!"

On the contrary, i actually didn't mind the story but i wish it wasn't a dual part story. I'm looking forward to see where the story heads next.

Although I have created multiple characters for each weapon skill, I do love Bows as my avatar's standard weapon. Inspire + Full Brace + Judgment = :o There are probably better combinations than this but meh. It kind of upset me (and it still does) that the avatar knight in WKC 2 has no bow weapons, no love for Bow users. :(

Anyway yesterday I got my avatar up to GR 7 so that means I can wear some of the New Game+ armor now. Yay.

I was a Spear user myself, but I decided to move to Axes for my second avatar after seeing how powerful they were. I'm still waiting on WKC 2, and if it is going to come out here in September, then I'll have to pass on it till Christmas.

I also need to move my PS3 to a place with better connection. The connection is awful in my room and I can't play online because of it. I did manage to get to GR 4 on my own though, but it's still not enough to wield the NG+ armor/weapons that I have in my inventory.

I got to the Van Haven Waste and man is this place huge. Frass Chasm took up a lot of my time with the "Ride the dandelions", so I can't imagine how long this behemoth of an area will take me.

I'm Level 30 right now. My character can now hit for over 100 damage by just using the basic Shatter move. A combination of Armor Shatter on an enemy, then use either Rallying Cry, Terra Firma or Inspire and finally ending with Nightmare can really mess an enemy up, especially the big ones.

As for my other characters, Leonard and Caesar now have Heal II and Heal All so I have backup healers along with Yulie. I don't think I will severely need them, enemies have been hard-pressed to kill me so far. (Even though the Greaver boss was close)

Van Haven Waste can take up to 2 hours to explore every nook and cranny in it like I did, an hour if you just plan on running on through. I remember getting here the first time and seeing all of the little plains scattered across the map and thought; "How the hell am I supposed to get through here?" And then I saw the Underground Tunnels.  ::)

Luckily if you plan on revisiting, you don't have to go through the trouble of circling around all over again. In case you don't know, when you reach a spring like area in the middle of the underground tunnels with a save point, do yourself the favor and unlock the other gates and spare yourself the trouble of having to traverse through it all over again.

I have been continuing the story, but right now i am more questing. I having been trying to get to gear 12 i only need 1 more GR rank ^^. Cuz i need a pure heart. and that's a rare drop apparently. I heart i needed to do Memorial Servant II, so if someone wants to help, it would be great ^^.

Haha... King of Dragons was pretty easy up until I got my arse kicked by the Ancient Dragon himself. It must be one of the hardest quests to do solo. Then again, my equipment isn't very great. Compared to most of the other dragons and monsters in the Dogma Rift that hit me for 10-20 damage, Ancient Dragon hit me for well over 100. My HP is 500. I think you can do the math.

That stupid Lightbrand attack... he kept spamming it, I kept getting knocked down while trying to heal and he finished me off with a Flame Breath. I don't know if my strategy was lacking (it was to go in gun's blazing!) or if this guy was just being cheap with me.

I should have charged up my AC and maybe I could have stood a chance. My combo attack hit the other dragons for close to 2000 which nearly finished them off. I don't know how much HP the Ancient Dragon has though.

I really need to create a PSN so I can play online, because this and the Strike of the Wind quest are the only two quests I have left to complete. But the WiFi in my house is just not cooperating. No matter where I place my PS3, I can't connect via wireless at all. Sad face :-(

Oh well, I'm closing in on GR8. Then I can do NG+ to get some of the better equipment. I've got about two months left before WKC 2 comes to the US so I'll try to get my rank up as far as I can. I don't think any of the Rank II quests will show me any mercy solo though.

You do know that you level up your GR pretty fast right?

Anyway today i did some quests with Bram and my little brother. We started with the first quest to get them S rank. And thanks to Bram and my little brother we found out how to share quest items. Apparently you can drop them when you are close to each other.

It goes up fast indeed. We've done like 5 or 6 of the lowest level quest available and I'm only short about 300 GRpoints to get towards GR 9 ::)

Still early on in the story though. Basically I've just got past the first boss :P

You just enter a room with other people and from there you can group up to do quests together. The early quests you can probably still do solo, but the higher up you'll get the more people you will need to overcome our enemies ;D

WKC 2 EU version GR 20 level 71

Chugging along grinding guild rank to get out of these tedious lower ranks. I'm gonna get to 21 tomorrow if possible. I'd like to be GR 22 by the time I go back to work Tuesday.

Im starting to dislike axes with wkc2. I seem to be missing a lot more than on wkc1, at least 1 miss per 10 hits. I would swap to bow but i don't wish to start again so i shall proceed till i can rebirth which is a long way away. Just before the boss in frass chasm.. I hate that place.

Sorry I didn't see this. Between my Bday and playing online in quests I just didn't get here until bedtime today to do any reading...I had to send myself pprincess a friend request from my other avatar so I could find my town.

Here is my Resident Errands guide. Just use Find and type GR. But honestly some of the errands depend upon doing previous ones. It's easier just to go down the list.

I had to go through sixties friends to re-find your town pprincess, together with him we've been making your town quite a populair place ;D

So far I've just turned GR13 which by the end of today will probably be slightly higher, though that dependent who will show up to quest along. Right now I've revisited the towns I have access to to start doing some of the resident Quests. Right now I've probably finished around 30 of them, but with only half the towns available I guess I need to continue the story to make the rest available ;D

Those two where fun yea. You know I told you I hadn't changed anything of my party members, except for there equipment ::)

Well those two forced me to alter Yullies command settings so that she could cast spirit hymn during the battle itself. She already knows that skill but it wasn't located in one of her command slots. Managed to put it in place, cast it to get some mp with which I could revived my main character. Thought I was already gone, but I actually managed to turn the battle into my hand again ;D

Once i got my set-up right i actually breezed through the battle, i would go back and record it to show how i did it but i am NOT risking that again. set tactics to focus on one while they are both on the ground, spread out when one is in the air and keep their accuracy down at all times.

Hmm it's gotta make you wonder, will the remastered edition of white knight chronicles have this difficulty or the original easy difficulty?

Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: Da_Cloud on July 03, 2011, 10:23:06 PM
Well the battle went on fairly well. It was though, but I could easily keep up with the damage dealt. Untill they killed my avatar right at the moment when I wanted to give Yullie some mp. Avatar death, Yullie not enough to cast revive and a third unit with no revive at all. Well I guess you can image it would be a certain death if it weren't for my luck ;)

Would have been easier to set up my party members right. Back then I was just lazy, right now I'm kinda seeing it as a challenge to not learn them any new skills ;D

If you have an archer, like Yulie, just play as her for that battle.

Also, make sure you pick up Arslese, her new bow, in Red Horn. It's in a chest near the southmost Zor Crystal room. She gets 2 Turn Breaks with that bow, plus it has a Glacial type skill that hits for 1000 damage on Brinneflame.

My B-Mail is cprrincess on Geonet, my avatar is Ne'mimi.

It seems you'll have to buy the rest of the set yea. Unless you can find the remaining pieces on Redhorn Island.

I found another need set of armour in the shop though. It had the exact same defence as my previous set, but then the weight was light instead of medium. Right now I'm so fast I can basically shoot three arrows in the same time that Ceaser does 1 normal attack. On the other hand I'm quite vulnerable for enemie fire as well ::)

I did the quest at level 48, an archer breaks them with their dark shot. You'll be facing lots of them in rifts so just get into the habit of having an archer with dark shot. Preferably control them.

Mainly been doing residence quests today. Just doesn't seem to get an end to it, for each icon you clear more keep popping up. Feels good now that I've only got around 30 left to do, though most of them require some sort of item which I don't have yet. Already caught word that some of them are quite hard to get though. Most noticeable an Flemron 108, seems that some people have been farming for days without getting the right drop :-X

Also got my Knight as well. Not much of a fight really, don't see why it is marked 55+. My party with an average level of 50 was no match for him ;D

Okay this game really does hate me, i get to the final fight and what happens, both my avatar and yulie die in the first strike due to the game deciding to thrust me into the next battle before yulie gets +heal III off. Now of course i'm left with leonard with NO mp items so no way to revive.
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC

Control a bow character in the final fight. Put Dark Shot, Conceal and Slow on the bar. Use Conceal as soon as you have an AC chip and keep it on you the full fight. Hit Dark shot and refresh it on the boss when it wears off. Just watch him TRY and hit you...you won't take hardly a blow if you keep Dark Shot and Conceal going. I did that with myself and let Caesar and Yulie take out the trash.

I didn't get a friend request from you, Sixty. Keep in mind I'm not playing as pprincess, that's my USA file.
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: Da_Cloud on July 06, 2011, 10:05:32 AM
So basically the final fight should be easy for me as my avatar is a skilled bow user ;D I've destroyed all the zone crystals in the area, so I guess I'm getting close to the actual fight itself. Seeming how Matt is struggling though I might take a few minutes to finally give my party members a decent set-up. Most of them have around 180 skill points left, with ceaser being the absolute top 230+ ::)

Being an archer helps as well when your party members want to transform into there knight. When you keep there mp up with spirit hymn they won't get out of there knight state. And seeming how you can increase the AC gain for archers, I get one for every two normal shots, you can basically keep your team mates in knight state for as long as you want ;)

I did use Conceal and Dark shot yet he still hit through, i'm just getting frustrated. Thinking of just grinding to around level 60 but that still leaves leonard with poor equips and around level 47.

Actually the opposite happened to me. Everything when fine for me up until the moment that Leonard got kicked out of his knight form. Leonard in knight form is an excellent tank and without a good tank my two archers (me and yullie) are basically nothing :-X

Must say if I take along some MP potions for emergency moments and giving yullie some better healing spells I should be quite fine though.

You don't need to have completed the story to get focus on other things. You've unlocked redhorn ile, if any quests are there you can already do those and I'll doubt well get more areas :D

Completing the residence quests is a pain as well though. Haven't done much hunts, but those seem to be quite easy to complete.

Leonard only needs to be in the second to last fight. The final fight you don't need to use him. Don't forget to Turn Break when the boss starts firing up. Should only need 1 Turn Break for it to be over.

Guys, can you modify your posts please and put spoilers in? yah I know you assume the entire world has played that other game, but I haven't and you just spoiled it for me.  >:( Hopefully you'll take care of this before I have to and before anyone else sees it.

Jake i'm pretty sure she didn't mean spoilers about the FFVI final boss. Especially when THAT what you put in a spoiler tag isn't a spoiler.

A spoiler is something that can ruin part of the plot for somebody like characters leaving or dying or major plot twists which ruin the story if told before they happen. I was spoiled for the last remnant the second i bought the game because people on GFaqs are idiots.

A final boss is a total and complete spoiler of any game and belongs in a spoiler tag.

I think its rather the fact that you compare the final boss with a person from another game, which spoils that he's a final boss as well ::)

Anyway it seems you've finally made it past Brimflamme in one piece ;D Still need to tackle the guy myself, but I haven't really done any serious attempted since my last fight yet. Might try him tonight.

Instead of Ne'mimi or pprincess? cuz honestly I don't have any friend requests pending at all.  ??? Believe me I would add you guys if I saw the requests.

GR 23

Just getting UNID gear and grinding points to GR 24. This is going faster than I thought it would, given that the S rank bonuses aren't in this game. But still I'm getting tired of the drama on WKC and will definitely play more casually once I hit 26.

Well I've given up. Since WKC involves such a huge time investment (especially to keep up with you chuckleheads ;D ) I've had to choose between it or my writing. I chose writing in the end as the story(ies) is better :D.

Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: pprincess on July 12, 2011, 10:05:15 AM
I got Da_Cloud's to work only because I sent him a friend request. I guess you guys are going to have to post your Geo address. Not your avatar name, but the one that's on the top of your homepage. Like mine is cprrincess.World, but my avatar is Ne'mimi. It's the Geo address name that I need. Then I'll just send you a request and see if that works better.

I'm gonna add a caveat though. I'm happy to quest with anyone, but I really need you to be at GR 16 at the very least and it's going to have to be WKC 2 6 person quests that we run. Any of the WKC 1 quests can be run with your story characters or people at your rank. The drops from those quests are redundant after about GR 17 or so and are not needed to make items for level 80 gear. I don't want to run WKC 1 quests to collect S ranks because I can do that offline with my characters. Online for me is maximizing time and getting important materials which are in the new 6 person quests. Those are what I will run with you and what you will need to get ahead with your gears, and get new UNID gears as well.

Was already wondering when the new quests would become available. Currently halfway GR 15 myself, with the best available gear that can be bought in the shops :-\

Still finishing the last things on the story side. Which includes doing the last 10 hunts, finishing the last 20 resident quests (or better said finding the right items to complete them) and last but not least giving Brimflamme another shot to finish the story.

Also pprincess i got a Q about the whereabouts of the Elder Sword, in you FAQ it says beneath Balandor. So i assumed it was with those dungeons. There was only 1 rift but i didn't get the Elder Sword. Have i been searching in the wrong rift or do i just have bad luck.

Because it's not the sewers, there is a path down to where the vault is and the rift is down that way. Note from the FAQ "Elder Sword - Beneath Balandor, Treasury area B-4."

Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: pprincess on July 16, 2011, 10:06:42 AM
To access this area, you're going to need to have opened Redhorn Island in the story.

Go to the castle. There are two knights standing in front of a door on the right just past the logic stone. The door there will take you to the logic stone area where you went twice for story cutscenes. I'm guessing you found this entrance and the first rift which you can see on the map. The castle entrance makes it easy because you don't have to run through the sewer part.

There is a door right opposite the first purple rift area that takes you below Balandor castle. It's the area you run when you do the Trials quest, but perhaps you haven't done that quest if you didn't get above GR 8 on WKC 1. It's the area of circular ramps where Leonard helped Cisna escape from the castle invasion. At the bottom of all the ramps is another logic stone, keep going down the stairs there and you'll find the treasury door where Leonard first found his knight armor. The rift is in that room and you can't see it on the map until you get into the room. You'll have to fight off a lot of golems and enemies on the way down because they are very strong at this point.

WKCII: Finally managed to continue the game.

GR:8 Just got to Parma. Accepted every Errands in Balonia and Parma and completed the first Bounty.

Also we should make a chart with every WKC player, region and ID's to make it easier.

GameFAQs has a new chart of the NPCs for town recruiting. I have done a Resident quest FAQ on GameFAQs which gives the position of every NPC needed to complete all errands. So all this has been done.

Glad to see somebody is still playing this aside from me (pokes Sixty after seeing him on Rock Band 3  >:()
But whether or not anybody here is gonna get to the WKC 2 quest ranks remains to be seen. C'mon guys, this game is really much more rewarding at the higher GRs, it's worth getting to.

I'm only a 100K away from GR16, but right now I'm kinda pre-pairing for the marathon :-\

So far I only need to complete 12 more residence quests and 7 more hunts. Right now I'm mainly soloing the lower GR missions. There are quite a lot of quests which I've never played as I was to weak to do them in the first game.

WKC is so grind heavy that I cannot play anything else until I am done with my goals. If I leave to play another game, I won't come back. The grind is just too much that if I am only doing a few thousand every so often, the grind will never seem to shorten up. It's just easier for me to maintain my motivation by going at it as intensely as I can until I reach the highest level of questing. After that I can ease off and equipment farm or whatever at leisure.

I'm about 3 million away from GR 26 which is my goal. Will reach it by Friday night or Sat. at the latest. I've got some weapons ready to bind when I get there.

WKC 2 EU GR 26. Hit this on Thursday night, and have been doing a little equipment farming. I have a FAQ to work on as well.

WKC 2 JPN GR 27. A new area has been added to the story map. It's a new ice dungeon. You have to pass all 8 story quests for your avatar, but it's still not unlocked yet. Apparently Level 5 is working on it....
I've got a lot of farming to do on this version as equips are now +20 and I hear they are going to +25. My guild is up from 75 members last time I was on to 235 members so it's now about full.

With White Knight Chronicles II soon to be on the North American doorstep, I've placed my preorder for it. My character has reached GR 10 and has had about two rebirths. Right now, I'd say I'm on pause until WKC II releases over here. Don't know what was with the delay though.

Here's the DLC that comes with the pre-order, I think I remember mentioning this at the marathon:

I just figured out how to unlock that set of knight gear in the Japanese version of the game. Turns out I had a code inside the game case that had to be redeemed through the PSN store and then the items are downloaded. I will need to check my EU version case to see if the same items are included. By now though I probably have a better set for my knight.

WKC 2 Japan version GR 27. Today we got a new quest with some new armor sets. The robe looks like a Japanese warlord. I decided to make the boots because they have HP and STR and SPR on them, to replace my GR 25 UNIDs, eventually. I also used my skill reset ticket that we got free when the PSN store opened back up. I am now mage/bow and dumped axe for awhile. I also wrote some more chapters for my story Adventures of a Blue Midget. I got lots of new photos for my story today when playing with Yung (Prince Blue Midget of Albana) and our friend Shoji (who stars as the King of Albana). So I used several of them to create new chapters. I opened up my Adventure Log to public viewing and instantly got LOTS of views so my friends will be famous soon!

I don't see anything like this in my EU case for ark knight set(what is it the elder set?)

anyway I've got some pretty boss knight gear now I don't know if you've seen, it looks pretty plain, but it's the highest defense you can get(60 on each piece) in EU version, though not the highest HP you can have(you need to use codes for those ones)

I've got the best ark sword available, the drega axe and the 2nd best I forget what it's called spear.....working on getting the Vell 9 code so I can upgrade my axe
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: pprincess on August 12, 2011, 11:01:11 PM
It's not the elder set, it's a special set I think for pre-orders, though the Japan version, when purchased new, had the code in every game case so it wasn't really a pre-order only special. I'd have to look to see what the stats are, but I think it's just a basic set.

what it is....I'm willing to bet it's just like a basic set like the elder set, so I'm feeling pretty good with my 660 DEF on my knight and 690 attack

WKC 2 Japan: just shy of GR 28, less than 200k away. Working on gear mostly. The "problem" with the Japanese version is there is so much cool stuff available for gear, and I've made a lot of pieces but not leveled up anything too far so I'm trying to get some stuff leveled up more. I'm a mage/bow on this game. I've started the Lace/Wraith fists, got two pairs of panties going and haven't decided on a good mage robe. I need the DLC Madoras robe but that 308 doesn't like me on this version.

I feel very behind though. The 5 weeks I took off from this version to get to GR 26 in the EU version left me a lot of backlog. All my friends have multiple sets of gear leveled up to +20. When the new weekly DLC quests come out with new gear, they all focus on getting pieces of the new stuff to +20 and they literally do it in a day or so because they have the mats and the few they need, they just grind away. I get the new pieces made, but not leveled up as I'm still working on basic gear so I feel like I have barely passable stuff to wear, and having said that, what I'm wearing now is better than anything I have on the EU version so I shouldn't be worried, but my stats, though ok, are definitely inferior compared to people with their +20 stuff.

There is no reason to do the New Game+, unlike the first WKC 1 disc, there is nothing new other than playing the story again. The chests are the same. For now you can go around and get your knight gear in the rifts in case you haven't done that, but otherwise it's all online from here!

it'll also be nice to not have difficulty with fights since all my characters are wearing gr25 unids and have around 700 defense

also, another week, and no DLC news for EU players, I counted 3 very angry comments about it on this week's update blog post

I'm glad to hear people are expressing their disappointment. Players are leaving in droves, either because they reached GR 26 and now have nothing left to play, or because they are bored with having literally 4 quests to run aside from Vellgander. Once players leave, it's difficult to get them back. Easier by far to keep them from the start.

You can get Ice Beast stuff running House Money quest.

I'm on WKC 1 today. We found out that our WKC 1 teammate named philly passed away on Wed. He was in poor health for a long time, but still he was the sweetest man and we're all still in a bit of a shock. So today we're getting together on WKC 1 so that US players or people who don't have the second game can get together to remember Phil and have a bit of fun like we used to have. Next weekend we'll do the same on WKC 2 for everybody who is on there but no longer has their WKC 1 disk.

you have to get to gr20 to get to level 80 and rebirth by the way, so don't be liberal with your SP, I planned this out from the start and I maxed 3 skill trees at the beginning: Axe, Divine and Staff, because at level 80 you'd have had a total of 600 points(200 for each tree)

so I hope you haven't spent your SP in more than 3 trees, it'll just cost more rebirths later

WKC2: Got to GR16, Lv 64 cleared some more Errands and Bounty and close to finishing both.
Tried to farm the Flemron 108 but got only Tabnesium 331/332, Rosenium 775/776 and also a Flemron 208..
Luckily I got the Coronastone quite fast and now farming Deviltails.

Thanks, guys. I think everybody had a good chance to chat and put the loss of our friend into some perspective. We did some questing on WKC 1 and one of our friends there hadn't been planning to buy WKC 2 but now he's changed his mind which is great! Eventually the WKC 2 group was all that was left so we moved over to WKC 2 and did some questing there on the EU version. Then I did a rebirth on the JPN version. Only one rebirth left on the JPN version. I've got the skill trees all done, so this last rebirth will just be for points. Rebirthing is soo boring though, I think I'll wait a few more days before doing the last one. I haven't started any rebirths yet on the EU version. My plan there is do some when my US friends get on the game so I'd be on the same level as they.

Well then i go see if it spawns there. I only need 110 000 points to get to GR16. So it will take a while before i get to GR18.

Also when i tried Vellgander today again the 5th floor had a different layout. Does this change randomly or has it to do with the timer?
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: pprincess on August 23, 2011, 04:31:43 AM
Yes, the 5th floor has random layouts. There are also random conditions, like one might be no more than 5 deaths, or no transforming into a knight or no combos. Or maybe that you have to defeat all of the starred targets or you might have to defeat everything on the floor.

I know the Ice Beast can spawn in Vellgander but I'm not sure he does on the first level, which is all you have access to until GR 22.

If you haven't done all the bounty hunts at the guild, there might be one that involves fighting an ice beast.

Doesn't look like it, but i keep searching for it. The thing is i don't know who the ice beast is. What i do know is that the Cerberus drops the fire beast stuff and the Megalo Tigris drops the earth beast stuff. Butt who the other 2 beasts are i have no idea.

Anyway finally got to GR16, already did 2 of the 3 new quests. was fun with a party of 6.

I already found out who the 2 other Beasts are: Rock hound and Fenrir

Yes, sorry I should make more of an effort to remember the English names. The JPN players call it the Ice Beast, and I tend to use the names in the JPN game.

Unfortunately it would be after 4 a.m. your time.  :-\

I'll be around tomorrow though, I could play anytime between 11 a.m. EDT and 4 p.m. EDT. After that I have to go to work again for a few hours. The rest of the week through Sunday though I'll be around all the time.

you know if you're just looking for simple grinding, you can do that with anyone really, you're gr16 so you could just run Ogit 2 for decent gr(17k for 3-4 minutes or less with not even a full party)

it's a slow slow grind, me and pprincess grinded a lot of OGIT 3 after gr17(I think it's 17 is the next ogit?) I had 687 runs I believe until gr26....I did a lot of vellgander quests too, but once you have unids there's not much else to go for until after gr26

I'm kind of taking a break for now until the US release when there's a wave of new players, it's very hard for me to find a group to play with lately
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: pprincess on August 24, 2011, 03:22:08 AM
I've been talking round to people about making a regular questing time on Sundays in philly's town. That way everybody could play WKC 2 at the same time, and be assured of finding help on real quests, not just OGIT, and make progress on mats. Even just 1 day a week might help to keep people going, to have the opportunity to quest with people they know rather than with randoms, and not give up because the online community is so small.

So, starting this Sunday at 11 a.m. EDT, 4 p.m. GMT, I will be in philly's town and will be spreading the word that Sunday will be a day of getting together in a private room with known people. There won't be a password on the room, but it won't be public, so you'll have to search for me or add philly to your friend list. He can't accept your friend request, but he will still show on your pending friends and you can get to his town from there. Anybody who wants to play together on real quests (no OGIT), and learn the WKC 2 quests for 6 people, this would be a great time to do it. Hopefully Sundays can be WKC 2 progress day going forward until guilds are up.

Everyone is assuming we'll see guilds at some point, but I'm not holding my breath until an announcement is made. I must say I find it highly amusing all the people forming imaginary guilds at this point. The Japan version has 290,000 sales of the game, compared to the paltry 20,000 sold so far of the EU version, with most of the players playing the story and quitting. The few that remain to grind GR quit before GR 26. The GR 26 players are quitting because there is nothing else to do. Unless the NA version boasts some stellar sales AND a player base big enough at GR 26+ I see no good business reason why Level 5 would agree to implement a guild system.

Right now there isn't even automatching on the map, the player base is that small. But I hope things turn around. I just won't be crying in disappointment if it doesn't because the signs are there that this game is failing fast.

yah you might have better luck with running OGIT solo with your characters. Set them to heal you first. If you have a mage character, give them a wind staff and take off all other spells except the wind spell. Having a bow character along too helps a lot because the bow will stay at a distance and feed you MP.

Try and die if you can just before the golem is dead so that your characters finish it off and you can then click to return to the homepoint. Saves a minute or two, but otherwise you can just run down the hall and die on the lizards to get back upstairs.

You're referring to Level 5 and Sony, I take it?  ;)

I'm guessing the reason we're seeing this stuff now is because it's going to be on pre-orders for the US version, and/or on the disk or free to US players, so this is making it fair.
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: The Wind on August 24, 2011, 10:30:40 PM
yes I'm referring to SCEE specifically, we've been hounding them for months for DLC and this is all we get, how about also giving us all the DLC the U.S. will have on day 1 also
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: pprincess on August 24, 2011, 10:36:43 PM
I don't think the US is going to have any DLC on day 1. They will have on the disk the same as we do now, and they will have to wait for a patch which will be used to unlock one quest a week or every other week. There is no way they are going to have 4 months worth of DLC ready to use. I think they just announced that to the US players that the DLC is "on the disk" as a pacification as to why they had to wait so long.

Post by: The Wind on August 24, 2011, 10:47:07 PM
hey you know since we got what they're supposed to be getting, is there any regional differences between the US and EU discs for WKC2? Reason I'm asking is because I made a topic on the first WKC board with a link to my file for the WKC Origins stuff, but because Origins is a EU PSP game, they're saying it won't work on the North American version(my save file) since Origins hasn't and probably won't have a NA release

I got slammed basically by people on that board for saying my psp save data for origins would let NA players unlock those accessories
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: Sixty on August 24, 2011, 11:32:16 PM
They can't try it, so how can they know. But if they are getting the same version as us, it should work or else we would have more stuff. which reminds me, i still need to get origins.

Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: pprincess on August 30, 2011, 04:11:26 AM
Feel free to join in on Sundays, guys, we had one person rebirthing and another at GR 15. We'll run quests for the lowest rank in the room, and we can always split up if there are many people. I just want to get people together on Sundays to make progress on their files, regardless of what progress that might be. I got progress done on some of my gear, and GR points are GR points. We did some farming, boring item farms but that's why we get together, to help people run quests or farm and have the chance to get a group to help with whatever is needed. I just want to keep people playing. We had GRs 15-28 so we really did run a variety of things from Desperate Defence 1 all the way up to Vellgander 10 and Dragon the Line II.

Right now I think the game is tough for people in the middle ranks, especially GR 21-25. There are lots of beginner players at lower ranks, so a bigger player pool there, and the same for GR 26+. But GR 26+ players don't often want to run the lower quests because they are tired of those quests or only want to run high level quests, so that leaves middle ranked people struggling to find a group. Hopefully it will get better as the player pool expands with the NA players joining in a couple of weeks, but it will be a good month before those folks rank up.

So at least we can know that there will be players available on Sundays to help anyone who shows up.

Hmm I got a problem... Probably I'm just blind but..

About the errands: I completed all those that were available to me (the latest ones being the Flemron and the 30 Fatal Petal ones). The problem is that there are still more Errands to be completed but those seems to not be available to me right now since all the 3 ??? are grayed out. I read through your Resident Guide but I saw that after the Falcyos sword pretty much every Errand should be available to you.

I don't know what else I'm missing. I'm GR18 and completed all the Bounty except for 2. Are there any other kind of prerequisite?

you're gr18 and haven't beaten the game?
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: pprincess on August 30, 2011, 05:22:55 PM
I'm not sure where you are in the story either so can't say for sure what's going on. Maybe something is grayed out because you need to get an item for the quest, or have the item but it isn't turned in? Or you're in a part of the game where you can't access certain towns...dunno, I've never heard of this problem happening before.

Many of the quests have multiple pre-requisites. For example, the errand for the luohan piece in Albana requires you to have done all the Gil errands and all the Roche errands because they are part of the conversation for this one errand, and their conversation for the luohan won't pop until you've done all of their other errands and there are many of them. I would say just go around and check every map in every town and look for red dots.
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: Oniangel on August 30, 2011, 05:35:13 PM
Totally forgot to write it (I wrote in my last post that I went to Vellgander with Sixty therefore I thought it was useless to point it out)....

Yeah I already have finished the story. I can say for sure I completed all the Roche Errands and got the Louhan Set so that's not the problem.

I already tried and searched for red dots in every town (also western Faria) but no luck.
It might be a glitch in the errands menu but I find it difficult even though I heard of a lot of glitches with menus and such.
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: pprincess on August 30, 2011, 05:47:01 PM
Hm, did you check the Numen House map in Faria? (Spirit House, I forget the name). Also look really carefully in downtown Greede. There are dots there that are super hard to see, especially in shops. Merchant Quarter 3rd floor is another place to check in Greede that's easy to overlook, same with the Central Station area. How about Bacchea? Unless reloading the game to clear a glitch is the issue, if you have unfinished errands, there must be dots someplace.
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: Oniangel on August 30, 2011, 05:49:56 PM
Yeah I checked the whole Faria. I'll try and go look again but since there are errands left those shouldn't be grayed out and I'd be able to see where I can find and accept it. I'll let you now.

While reading the resident guide I noticed some errands give you the possibility to recruit people for your Georama.... And then I got it: The reason was that I never used the Georama Menu and thus the relative recruiting errands weren't unlocked.
I wanted to wait to edit my Georama until GR20 or above, this way I'd have more mats and money to make a decent one.
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: The Wind on August 31, 2011, 03:55:09 AM
there is a spot in Faria, inside a restaurant type area in the middle area, a guy is sitting at a stool and the bar tender, you can NOT see the red dots for them on the R2 map, you have to go in and see them to see the symbols for them

also, check the greed station, there is a main area with a save crystal but an elevator area underneath that that leads to Flandor Trail, there is an errand guy down there in the lower part from the elevator
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: pprincess on August 31, 2011, 06:01:20 AM
Might as well use the Georama menu. Your mats won't get any better for your Georama. Geo parts require the use of mainly Tier 1 mats which are not available in story mode once you start WKC 2. WKC 2 has Tier 2 and higher mats in story mode. f you are using a save file from WKC 1 you might have some of the mats. Otherwise you're looking at farming Tier 1 quests or spending a lot of money buying them from other towns.

finished my 2nd rebirth today and started my 3rd....my 3rd might be my last, I've got the rebirth trophy and by the time i'm done rebithing now i'll be axe/bow/SS/divine, the only advantage to doing another rebirth would be for a few more passives, don't think it's worth it
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: pprincess on September 01, 2011, 07:14:16 PM
I've done my 3rd rebirth on the Japan version. I got the skills trophy on that and have been trying to refine a Mage/Bow build. The difficulty with this build is that, aside from HP/MP passives, the remaining passives for both are completely different. The Bow requires Strength, and the Mage requires INT. Obviously the other passive stats are beneficial to any build. But Mage is skill tree heavy in that two trees are required, even if not taking all the skills from each. So when in comes down to remaining passives, I can get the level 1 passives from all the other trees for sure. After that I can work in 2 of the level 2 passives from from any of Axe, Longsword, Short Sword and Spear. Doing this leaves me with 10 extra SP.

By doing the 4th rebirth, I'd have another 40 points. I can get one more level 2 passive by doing this rebirth. So that would mean +5 in two other stats. I figure that would be nice, but not necessarily crucial.

If I were to only do a single speciality, such as Bow, I could get all the passives in the game and have plenty of SP leftover with no rebirths at all.

They've kind of rendered rebirths only necessary if you plan to dual spec or triple spec.
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: The Wind on September 01, 2011, 10:33:53 PM
yeah pretty much, that's what I'm doing now is triple spec'ing, but I also wanted the rebirth trophy

when I get to level 80....I'm thinking of doing mostly bow for a while just to get my bearings
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC

Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: The Wind on September 03, 2011, 01:14:37 AM
I finished my rebirth, did a vell as a bow earlier

on the plus side....I personally didn't die

but on the negative, I just don't feel like I'm doing as much as I should? I throw up dark shot regularly and giving people mp, but as far as damage output I feel like I am not contributing very much

I am using a salamander bow at +10 and a glittering bow for neutral at +8 so my damage ability is pretty optimal....maybe I'm just too used to doing insane damage with axe

at any rate, I am properly now triple spec'd for bow, axe and shortsword, but I'm going to play as bow for a while just to get used to it since I never did before
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: pprincess on September 03, 2011, 04:57:17 AM
Well the point is to be versatile and switch off, I suppose, depending upon who all is in the party. Some people can't change their job but if you can it helps a lot.

I'm rather tired of bow myself, after having done it on the Japan version all the way up. Having friends at a higher GR than I was, the support job is something I could offer, given I had the worse gear most of the time.

But it's like being stuck, planted in a spot throwing pins at a distance. You can run around with the bow, but to hit you stand still. So it's this static feeling. It's a good job for people who need to be safe and not take risks to their ego or HP. Axe is like throwing all that out the window and hoping for the best. Which of course makes axe more fun.

Since you're just at the start start by pumping points into the Skill Tree you're sure you want to spec into (while also getting most of Divine Spells).
For double spec you'll have to wait to GR20 (GR24 or Vell2 to do it faster) to be able to reincarnate, in the meantime you'll have plenty of time to decide which specs to get.

White Knight Chronicles 2 -

Since my last post, I got up past the introduction and went back to Balandor. I'm currently in the Balandor Undergound Passage, Wraith's are still annoying as all hell, and all of my characters are Level 40.

My character is still a Bow Mage, and I changed Leonard into a Axe Divine, Yulie I kept as a Bow Divine and Eldore a Staff Mage. I don't know if I want to keep having Caesar using a Spear, but I'll see what I can do with him once I get up to that point.

(Mage = hybrid of Divine and Elemental btw.)

I haven't much time to play on the weekdays due to school and such, so I'm making most of my progress over the weekends. I've played the JP version anyway so it really doesn't make much of a difference.

I had Caesar as a spear originally too but made him an axe in this game. He's awesome!

EU version: Finished all 4 of my rebirths in the past 3 days. What a haul, but it's done now and I've got my character back to axe/bow and got all the passives except for a couple of the MP/INT/SPR ones.

the wkc2 EU dlc came out today, same crap US got last week, 3 months too late

Finished the Bunker Lode Caverns of the past, and got up to Greede's Underbelly. All my characters except for Eldore and Caesar are Level 45. Eldore is one level less while Caesar is still at the level he joins at. I decided to teach Leonard and my avatar the Holy Light+ spell, since Skeletons are now coming out of the woodwork.

I'm hoping to finish off the Netherwyrm and at least get up to the Lagnish Desert today.

WKC 2 japan. Got another level on my armor. There is a new GR 27 quest and another new quest besides that has the ugliest armor I've ever seen. The accessory looks like taxidermy, as if somebody skinned a ram, horns and all, and the whole thing goes on your back. My guild got a new update and now you can buy GR 26 weapons and armor in the regular shops there.

WKC 2 EU. Most of my friends have quit playing. My US friends are playing and are around GRs 16-18. Kinda boring on that server right now as it's now difficult to find players at my level.

I took 2 of my US friends through Vellgander for the first time, it was just me and them so it took a while to finish it so we only B ranked, but I basically showed them what to do and gave them an easy win, man I remember back when we first got it and I thought just the regular mobs in vellgander 1 were impossible

Liberated Albana from Yshrenian Army, and now proceeded towards the Nordia Tunnels. Also got two nice levels for Caesar, I need to try to level him (and Leonard) up as much as I can.

Tis a shame that no one here is doing the story but me. :( I need to find a good place for my PS3, there has to be some decent spot for WiFi in my home. -_-

I think Bram, Oniangel and Sixty finished the story a few months ago and they did some GR grinding but I don't think they play anymore.

Like Wind, I've taken a lot of folks through Vell 1 as well, to show people what to do and get their rank on it. I know of one American group doing really, really well on the game. But a lot of people I'm seeing are still playing WKC 1 style and not getting the new system.

Lost interest in the game. Been doing the exact same quests over and over to many times after which the quests became to much of a routine rather than having a fun moment.

Unfortunately you probably didn't get to the new WKC 2 quests as they are higher GR than you attained. A lot of the fun is finding friends to play with and enjoying making the new costumes and weapons as well as getting the new quests.

back when WKC1 was out...we kept playing because we knew WKC2 was coming, and hey who knows maybe Japan would finally give us that dlc Japan got that US never got

now WKC2 is out.....and Japan has a ton of content we don't have. It took 3 long stupid months for us to get dlc, but then the US got it on day 1, so it's confusing.....I hate not knowing if we're going to be screwed out of the content Japan has again like last time and there's no carrot of a part 3 to keep me dangling here

I still enjoy this game when I play it but I don't like being jerked around by these retards at SCEE who take 3 months to get us DLC that US had at day 1. On the other hand, if I had the US version I would think D3 really had its act together since they had dlc on day 1. So I don't know.

IMO the US version really got nothing. All the US got were online tickets and avatar customization items. Still missing are the Faria Georama parts, and not to mention that we don't even have the georama update. I don't have a WKC 1 file to import to the EU version and I cannot even buy WKC 1 geo parts to put in my WKC 2 town. We don't have the geo monster statues that add to town stats. Japan also has different forum boards: there is a board for on-topic game topics, and another board tab for off-topic chat only.

My friend bloodbath came by the library yesterday where I work to show me the Brady guide. I was able to see that the armors/weapons that will be coming when the disk content is unlocked is up to the Madoras weapon quest which is the last quest I surmised on gamefaqs that we will get. If the Brady guide is any verification, then I conclude we will have extra quests up to what Japan got as of January 2011 but no further.

As far as I'm concerned, the WKC 2 EU and US versions are nothing at all like the Japan version. To me the online just seems like WKC 1 with a few extra quests, not really at all the WKC 2 as I know it on the Japan version. Because of so much that's missing, especially BASIC  stuff like town updates to include the higher level harvest items, I have no confidence whatsoever that we will be getting anything more. The geo town updates not happening is especially troubling. Most people on Gamefaqs are focusing on guilds and tracking the new quests Japan is getting, but to me these things are even more remote because of the missing town update. With something so basic not happening, I have no reason at all to hope for more support and new material than the handful of additional quests on the disk.  I really don't feel like the WKC 2 we got is going to ever be like the Japan version. Which is really sad, because it looks and feels totally different on the Japan version.

Doing some Bounty quests since I've been ignoring them up to this point. Since the next part of the game is when I found that the difficulty spikes a bit, I guess it'll benefit, especially since you're knightless for quite a while. I've gotten up to Balandor and I now have Scardigne in my party again. I will be teaching him a lot of Divine spells since I'll be needing it for a much later battle. I've given him the Twin Blades skill, so for right now, he's my main tank in replacement of Leonard and Caesar.

I'll be getting my party to at least Level 50 before tackling the Van Haven Waste part.

I haven't yea, partly to blame by WKC 2 themselves though.

I've put quite some time in WKC 1 online and when I started up WKC 2 I basically had to start all over again. I don't mind resetting the scores for the quests as they changed a lot on some of them, but why did all the old WKC quests need to get new level restrictions as well. All the time I've spend online on WKC 2 so far has just been to reach the exact same point where I was on WKC 1, which is really demotivating.

There is little to no reason to do the WKC 1 quests at all in WKC 2 unless you really want the trophy for 100 S ranks. I haven't yet done the majority of the WKC 1 quests. The materials dropped by the monsters are available in story mode and quickly become obsolete after GR 18. I say you quit too soon and should have got to where you're running only WKC 2 quests. But you never really enjoyed the online all that much anyway so if you didn't feel motivated in WKC 1 to play all the time, probably the new quests won't do much to change that.

I've been playing White Knight Chronicles II and I'm up to the Redhorn Isle part. I'm trying to figure out how to get to the portal around G-4, which houses the Elder Spear if I believe. (I've decided to make my Avatar Knight a Shield + Sword type but I want it for completions sake.)

I'm about closing in on Level 60 for my avatar and Yulie, which is thanks to all the level grinding I did in the Another World rifts. And seriously, when does Leonard join the party again? If I remember, I left him at Level 46, which is almost ten levels below my lowest leveled character. I've already had to force myself to get Caesar up to date, I don't want to spend another two days leveling up Leonard.

You'll have Leonard back in your party in a bit. You'll know when he's about to arrive. And about leveling him up, don't bother for the most part.

To get to the portal, look for broken parts in the fence along the cliff edges, where you can jump down.

Leonard is going to be behind the rest of your party. He can knight up and use Turn Break (triangle button used when boss powers up) which staggers a boss. He can be switched out for the final fight in favor of your more leveled up people.

I just got up to Redhorn Isle. I'll hopefully be done with this game by the end of the weekend. Other than that, I've just been collecting each piece of the Elder equipment this week, since collecting them all outright at once, to me at least, just seems as tedious as doing the errands.

"Will you go talk to him? I understand he's right next to me/right across town, but I'm far too lazy to start a conversation. Can you please just talk to him and see what he thinks?"

^ About how 50% of the errands in this game work out. The other 50% are just odd fetch quests, and the rewards are even odder. (40000 GP for just running across town?) At least the Bounties are pretty fun.

So instead I'm on the geonet getting stronger, slowly but surely :)
I want to join you guys if you are ever bored... Add me and just tell me :o
I'm Level 49, GR 13.... I Know its not the highest :(

I need some pure hearts, Holy knight medals, and sticky wed fluid.... of which I cannot get until GR 15-16 :/

Ally, your WKC 2 review is really excellent!

Red, please look me up again for questing when you are GR 16, and have finished the game and the bounties and as many of the errands as you can. It will be fun to run WKC 2 quests. Just buy gear in the shops and then use the gear you get from doing the bounty hunts, it's better than what you can bind. Don't worry too much about binding anything right now, it's not necessary to beat the game. The game gives you the gear you need in the shops and in the guild bounties.

I've done most errands in albana.... And I've started some bounties. I can see that one armor from a bounty can be useful, which is the Swordmage armor..... I haven't done the bounty yet since I know I'd die brutally :) But for now I'm going on redhorn isle, killing everything in sight, so I can gain levels for the swordmage :/  and one more thing, I've bought a Psn card, and I'm going to buy a GR points ticket, and a ticket to reset my skills...... I'll be going Short Sword, Bows, and the necessary bit of divine magic. Tell me if that's a good choice or not, I'd rather get advice from experts rather than my own.
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC

By the time you hit level 80, you'll have enough skill points to max 3 skill trees. Some of the skills are locked until you finish errands to obtain those skills, so be sure to save points for those.

Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC

rebirthing just resets your points and gives you an extra 40 points starting from level 60, then you have to level up to 80

not confirmed, but in japan, the skill reset ticket was a free rebirth in that you didn't have to level up again but still got all your points back +40

can't say it works the same in NA/EU, as I didn't buy it
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC
Post by: pprincess on October 26, 2011, 04:47:43 AM
Well what happened with Japan was that Level 5 gave everybody a rebirth ticket after the long PSN outage. That one ticket did count as a rebirth, and I got the extra skill points. After that I bought 2 more tickets on PSN, and those tickets didn't count as a rebirth, they only redistributed the points. As of now, the skill reset tickets only allow you to redo your skills. What you CAN do though is get the trophy for mastering all 8 skill trees via tickets. But you won't get the extra points to spend on skills and attributes.

Along with risking a potential YLOD? Like vehicles, consoles these days are made out of fiberglass. I imagine leaving the PS3 on 24/7 would immediately put you at the risk of a YLOD. The PS3 isn't some super console straight from space, it has it's limits.

That's just cynical Ally... I am witness to a PS3 being on for ten days straight and still going steady with no troubles. I watch DVDs on repeat overnight with great frequency.

9000 hours though... That's bordering on WoW level.

How am I being cynical when it's the truth? Consoles these days can't handle the stress of being on for 24/7. The Xbox 360 can't handle it, the Wii can't handle it, so I'm pretty sure the PS3 will eventually die out too.

I don't want to turn this into a console war, so I'm just going to drop it.

The Xbox 360 can't handle it, the Wii can't handle it, so I'm pretty sure the PS3 will eventually die out too.

It might surprise you but the Ps3 (especially the Slim one) dissipate heat way better than the Wii and the XBox360 (which has one of the worst ventilation system ever made) so if you put the console with at least 30 cm of free space and leave enough space for ventilation it can go on for hours without problems.

Consoles can't handle 24/7 cause that's not what they're built for.

On another subject: I still gotta download the WKCII Patch...
Title: Re: Daily Update: WKC

I've known people who left their ps3 on 24/7 for more than a year

PS3s only overheat under specific conditions when they're not ventilated well

as for YLOD is not really an overheating issue....but more of the thermal paste on the motherboard eroding away, yes overheating can make this occur faster, but otherwise, someone could get YLOD after using the system for 2-3 years like I did when my ps3 got the YLOD in 2010 and I had it since 07

others get YLOD within a few months of having their system

neither one could overheat, it could be just the thermal paste is too thin
