Title: Tales Studio Nearing Bankruptcy

Never got into the Tales of games much myself, but I was thinking of playing a few sometime, when the list of games I wanted to already play slimmed down a bit. I always thought they were doing well though, especially since there are a lot of Tales of fans out there.

According to Tales Studio’s recent financial report, they had a annual lost of 1 million dollars. That doesn't sound that bad, but apparently the studio also has a debt of 21 million dollars. I don't think Namco Bandai would let the Tales of series die out a horrible financial death, but I’m not sure if they will be willing to support the developers.

Namco-Bandai has made dumb decisions regarding the Tales fans in North America/Europe and now this news comes up. They deserved it because they didn't release certain Tales games in those aforementioned regions and now they're suffering because of potentially lost sales. No self-respecting RPG fan has not heard or played Tales games and if they were to go bankrupt, it would mean the ultimate end of the Tales series.

Best case scenario is if Mistwalker comes up and rescues them. Second and third goes to Square-Enix and Sega, respectively.

Vesperia, Symphonia and Abyss were some of the best Tales games I've played... out of pretty much all of them. Wonder if to save them, they will release Vesperia for the PS3 in other regions other than Japan. I guess it would be pretty much too late anyway. This is upsetting to me as someone who has played the Tales games.

This is also proof that some game companies out there need to get their act together.

A debt of 21 Million Dollar. I wonder if there is any company that is really willing to take them over with a debt like that.

No company in their right mind will be willing to pay 21 Million Dollars just to pay off one debt. I think this is the end of the Tales games unfortunately.

Now if they had done the sensible thing and released some games worldwide such as Abyss since Europe never got that, and some of the newer DS games such as Innoncence, Hearts and tempest then maybe they would actually be able to get out of the debt their in.

Oh well, farewell Tales games.

well, i know you might all hate me for saying this, but i've played a lot of these and the last two seemed really boring to me, they havent added enough with each game to keep me interested, i'm guessing others felt the same and thus, they lost money :-\

Well, it's either someone saved them from bankruptcy or they got out of it themselves. They are currently in the works of a new Tales game for the PlayStation 3. Also, it's been sort of speculated that Tales of Vesperia will be seeing a release in other territories. Troy Baker, the voice of the main protagonist of the game, stated that he had just finished additional voicework for the PS3 port of the game.

So... rejoice?

Yeah the new game is Tales of Graces F, which is being released on December 20, 2010

Troy Baker is a liar, he's said that twice.

Nearing Bankruptcy is something else than being Bankrupt. When square started working on Final Fantasy they where nearing bankruptcy as well (hence the name Final Fantasy) ::)

I mean that it was a huge success on the market, hence Tales should make something that will make money equal to what FF1 made back in 1988 ( I think?)

only problem with that is FF was an entirely new series (well, then it was just one game) where as Tales would probably only make more "tales of" games

The problem with Tales is that they moved the series to the Xbox, ignoring the fact that RPG players are on the Playstation 3. They never bothered to make Tales of Vesperia for the PS 3. If they had done that, they would have sold more on that game.

Not all RPG players are on the PS3, I know plenty of RPG Gamers who play on the 360 and not the PS3 such as myself.

but choosing to be X-box excusive as opposed to PS exclusive (or all systems) was a bad choice to make as the majority stuck with the Playstation systems when 360,PS3 and Wii came out

Wrong pprincess. There is Tales of Vesperia for PS3 but that was an apology to Japanese gamers and that is it.

Also, Scamco is butthurt about Sony saying that Tales of Vesperia is a port(which it's not, it's an entirely new game). This is why they didn't let Atlus translate and localize the game for America. Scamco has just been butthurt in general about their games and if they let Atlus localize them Atlus would take every single game and localize it guaranteed.

Well the company will probably just get bought out and absorbed into some larger company like what happened with Cavia this summer.
