right now i am lucky that i had my auto update turned off, i accidentally turned it off en was too lazy to turn it on. ;D
Even then its still based on luck. There are also a whole bunch of people that have installed 4.45 without problems, probably just an specific setting where this patch is crashing.

p.s. Wonder when mircosoft will take this minor chance to start an Sony blackmail campaign :P

Yea Sony has acknowledged the problems and rolled back the Firmware update to the latest stable version which would be 4.41.

Hope they bring out an update soon though. 4.45 contains an update with witch you can disable the trophy notifications, something which I personally would like to disable ;)

If Oni's already started on Shiva and none of us have started playing, I'd say let's follow Oni. Unless he wants to restart on another server.
The idea was to restart on the actual release and use the Beta test to simply mess around. At least that was my part of the idea, but in the end I don't mind as long as I can start on a clean new server :D

We'll I haven't gotten much further in the Beta client than messing around in the character creation screen, so currently I'm not located on any server yet.

There are 5 EU Servers right now. I picked Shiva so if you wanna join I'm there.
Seeming how they are going to migrate all the FFXIV 1.0 players (and add a couple new beta testers) I would be surprised if they only used the beta servers o_O

As far as I know the beta servers are now going to be the same as the original 1.0 servers, Might be wrong about it in the end, but that would be the most simple way to do the migration test of the old 1.0 characters as well as providing enough slots on the server for people to play on.

Can't wait for next Tuesday to start playing. ;D
When you pick a server pick "Balmung", its the server where currently the rest of us is located on. Though during the official release we'll be restarting on a new server.

Maybe but then they better finish it in 3 years and not 5 or 6
They better deliver a good product in the time they think its needed to make one and not rush stuff because of some impatient people. Unless they can release it yesterday they'll never be fast enough in the eyes of people to begin with ::)

They already posted prices. a hundred bucks less than the xbox and should be about the same for euros
Those are the general retail prices which most countries respect. Unfortunately Chaos lives in one of those countries that usually don't  :-\

they didn't learn from Versus back then. don't show it when you are not that far in development.
In this case it might be better to do the opposite.

With versus they showed a new project so people weren't waiting for it until they announced the project. With KHIII people where already expecting the next instalment and have been waiting to hear something for the past 5 years. Better to tell the fans today that the project has begun early development (and could thus easily take 3 years before its out) than to keep them in the dark expecting a release next year :P

Personally the feature that sold me completely is the fact that it's still Region Free as opposed to the XBone.
For an import guy like me that's basically a must have feature. Didn't really feel like buying an additional PS4 simply to play the Japanese games :P

Feels good Sony isn't going the same direction as the XBoxOne yea.

Still I feel kinda said about the paid online multiplayer thing. Seems like my "rare" online days on the PlayStation will be over :-\

now when they say "PS4 exclusive" does that also mean no Xbox 1? because it seems interesting that FF would return to being a playstation exclusive now that XIII and XIII-2 were on the 360
Its strange in one way, but Versus has always been a Ps3 exclusive.

BTW it seems that sony has been co-developing the game since the FFXIV remake (as we already knew developers from the versus project where set on the FFXIV remake). If this part is true it probably means Sony is sharing some of the development cost in return for it being a Sony exclusive game.

What did I say, Bram? ;D
Logically speaking we all saw this one coming. I personally just hoped they would keep it FFversusXIII. I find it a shame they are renaming all the Fabula Crystalis games just because the general public didn't like FFXIII itself :-\

Anyone wanna explain why Noel wants lightning dead?  8) ::)
Seems to have something to do with that prophecy I guess. It sounds like it was foretold that 1 saviour would arrive to destroy the world. I guess Noel thinks that lightning is that saviour from the prophecy ::)

Hmmm, I think I'll start to see the bottom of my wallet by the end of this year ::)

Usually I just go around and use Tidus, Rikku/Yuna and Auron. Tidus would be my main damage dealer, Rikku/Yuna are the healer (which is out depends per game) and Auron is mainly there to survive in case things go wrong. Though he also packs quite a punch :P

The start of the battle would be to play around with haste to get in between Seymour and Mortiorchis so that there Lance of Atophy => Full Life combo gets interrupted by at least 1 unit (which can then use a holy water). This would even go as far as simply casting haste on Mortiorchis (as he doesn't deal that much damage anyway).

Second of all once you've got him down to half health make sure to keep a shell (yes shell not protect) going on Auron, if you've been using him so now and then he should be able to survive Total Annihilation (unless you got really unlucky). As far as I know Seymour always uses Dispel the turn before Total Annihilation, so right after that cast shell on Auron and set him in defence mode. Usually I'll survive the Total Annihilation take 1 round to fix up my characters and get rid of Seymour before he can cast it a second time. Usually do have a Bahamuth with overdrive ready on standby, but apart from that I never really save up overdrives for this fight.

If you are planning on using a summon overdrive rush on him the second half of the fight (when seymour has lost half of his life) would also be the moment to do so.

On an other note Seymour is not immune to poison. So another strategy would be to both poison and silence him and remain on full defence duty. The poison will slowly kill him and the silence prevents him from casting dispel on you. This way you can keep up a full protective cast on your entire party. Only tried this once, but as he can't cast dispel I missed my early Annihilation warning and still got wiped out (as Auron wasn't in defence mode to survive the hit).

In Theory you could counter this by only using defence and letting poison do the work entirely, but I never tested this as it would just be boring :P

--

Summoning an Aeon when Seymour is about to use Cross-Cleave or Total Annihilation should be an obvious strategy, but it's still worth mentioning.
Can't say 100% sure as I've never tested this through. But the few times I did try to summon block Total Annihilation, Seymour just casted Banish before using his Total Annihilation thus effectively countering my summon block. As said can't say for sure though if this is programmed that way or just me being unlucky.

For those on a NSG challenge the best way to win this fight would be to use Rikku overdrive. If you've set over all 26 the al bhed primers from another save you should have gotten 99x Underdog's Secret from Rin on the airship. If you haven't done that you can get 30x wings to discovery from the chocobo race on Remeim Temple by finishing with 3 chests.
If you mix either one of these items with the lvl. 4 key sphere you can find on Mt. Gagazet you get the almighty "Trio of 9999" overdrive. Meaning every attack will now deal 9999 damage so in other words a 8 hit kill for our Seymour. Combine that with a good 8 hit overdrive (like lulu's using a weak spell) and he's gone before you know. :D
