Forum News / Reporting Posts
« on: July 08, 2008, 11:11:44 AM »
Well we are almost a week on line and it came to my eyes that a lot of people are playing moderator of them self. Of course there is nothing wrong with giving your friends a notification that the aren't allowed to double post, but in some way it also ruins the forum.

What is the situation now:
Mostly you'll see posts like
You aren't allowed to double post. Please edit it in your last post
throughout this forum. And I would like to see that a little bit different.

What would I like to see than:
You can the text "Report to moderator" on the right bottom of each post. If you see there is something wrong with a post please use that button instead of posting a new replay in the topic itself.

What will happen if you push the "Report to moderator" button
When you push the button a new type field will appear. Here you'll state why you've pushed the button. Some examples are:
"Double posted","Flaming of the topic","This is one of the posts that has gone way off topic"
After that you'll push the send button. After you've pushed the send button the message will appear in a board that is only visible to the staff. So nobody other that the staff can read it was you who pushed the button. And we will never make this kind of information known to the other members. The information given in the message will help the moderators to take a quick action.

But won't that mean I betray my friends
No, this doesn't mean you betray your friends. You only help the moderators locate these posts. And in the mean time you'll keep the forum clean of useless posts.
Besides that we only take actions based on the rule that has been broken. A simple double post can happen and won't be directly punished. So please don't think that you are giving that person a request for a ban.

The conclusion
I hope I you are going to use this report function rather than playing moderator on your own.
From now on A moderator is allowed to remove this kind of posts if the post has nothing else to do with the topic. And please understand that these measures are only meant to improve the quality of this forum.

Forum News / Latest problems
« on: July 04, 2008, 10:19:48 AM »
This topic will explain what caused the latest problems or down times. I hope you won't have to look here many times, but this is better than having 15 separate topic saying the same thing over and over.

Thursday 3 July - 10:45
Small error
Some may have noticed a error while trying to enter a topic. This was because I wanted to add an extra function for the admin, though something went wrong with one of the scripts. Luckily I made a back-up from the scripts before editing so it shouldn't be around any more.

If you still have problems please don't hesitate to report.

Thursday 3 July - 10:47
Re: Small error
Figured out what caused the problem and added this function without problems.
BTW: The function is a admin only so you won't notice a thing  8) Next are the spoiler tags.

Friday 4 July - 10:00
Servers down
The MSQL-Servers on which the vital database of this forum runs on has been down for some time. On top of that the domain name had some trouble finding the servers on which the rest of the site runs on.
The first problem is out of my league and can only be solved by the admin's of my host.
I still don't know what caused the second problem, so if it was a caused by my please accept my apologies.

I hope this informed you enough.

Well seeming the activity of this forum the problems with the connections of the domain name seems to have caused less problems than I first thought.

As you may have already heard from Sixty this site is currently hosted on a free (but good in numbers) host. I want to try upgrading my account there to get better servers and a better uptime of the servers (this time they have to keep the promise of the up time they gave me because I pay them to)
The only problem is that you'll need a credit card for this upgrade. And one of the things I don't have is a credit card Undecided Well I'm trying to find a way around that. But for the moment I'll just stick with the current host.

Meet and Greet / FAQ - BBC Codes
« on: July 02, 2008, 11:59:09 AM »
This topic explains how the BBC - Codes work.
This guide is meant to help you understanding the working of the BBC - codes of this forum.

What is BBC
BBC stands for "Bulletin Board Code". Its basically a code to modify the layout of an text. This means you can make you're text bold, Italic or even give it a different color :D It was created to replace the use of HTML on Forums and is now the most used code on forums.

Where can I find these codes
If you're writing a post you might have noticed 3 rows with some pictures above the text field. The 3th row are smilies which are nice to express yourself, but they aren't part of the BBC - Codes. The other two rows should look like this:

These are the BBC codes that you can use. If you push a button it will automatically generate the right code for you. All you need to do is put the text between the begin and and tag of the code. How simple can it be.

Below is an explanation of each code

Code: [Select]
[b][/b]Any text between these tags will look like this

Code: [Select]
[i][/i]Any text between these tags will look like this

Code: [Select]
[u][/u]Any text between these tags will look like this

Code: [Select]
[s][/s]Any text between these tags will look like this

Code: [Select]
[glow=red,2,300][/glow]Any text between these tags will get a colored box around them. You can change the color by changing "red" into the color you want

Code: [Select]
[move][/move]The text you've put between these tags will move horizontal along the screen

Code: [Select]
??? If anybody knows what happens with this code let me know ???

Code: [Select]
Any text between these tags will be aligned left
You can also align images with this tag

Code: [Select]
Any text between these tags will be centered
You can also align images with this tag

Code: [Select]
Any text between these tags will be aligned right
You can also align images with this tag

Code: [Select]
[hr]With this tag you will ad a horizontal line like this one

Code: [Select]
[size=10pt][/size]With this tag you can chance the size of the font. The bigger the number the bigger the texts
A size of 6pt: Will have this format
A size of 10pt: Will have this format
A size of 14pt: Will have this format

Code: [Select]
[font=Verdana][/font]With this tage you can change the font of your text. Some examples:
Verdana, Times, Courier

Code: [Select]
[color=red][/color]Select the color you want and put the text between the tags.

Code: [Select]
[img][/img]I shall try to explain this. Put the link of the image (yes it already need to be on the internet) between the tags. If you put in the example above you will see this image: (Wich is my sig

If you want to upload a sig from your computer I suggest you do that on This is a free site where you can upload images from your computer. They will host it for you and give you the link that you'll need to post it here.

Code: [Select]
[url="complete URL so with the http://"][/url]There are two ways to use this.
First put the whole link between the tags like "url][/url" If you do so the forum will do the rest.
The second way is a bit more complex but allows you to name the link yourself. Now you'll have to put the link like this "url=] Now you can put your own name of the link here [/url"

Code: [Select]
[table][/table][tr][/tr][td][/td]This is a complex code and requires some knowledge of the html language. It allows you to create a table layout to perfectly line out your text. If you want to know how it works look here at This is a on line manual of the tables tags work in html. If you'll understand this you see that these tags work in the same way.

Code: [Select]
[sup][/sup]Normal text text between the tags

Code: [Select]
[sub][/sub]Normal text text between the tags

Code: [Select]
[ code ][ /code ]The code button will create a quote in which you can still see the code. This only comes in handy if you want to explain how the codes work

Code: [Select]
[quote][/quote]If you use the quote tags you can put a quote of somebody else in your post without confusing people.
A quote will look like this

Code: [Select]
[spoiler][/spoiler]This is the spoiler tag. Every spoiler must be putted between these tags.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Code: [Select]
[list][li]first thing[/li]
[li]second thing[/li][/list]
To create a perfect list use the list tags. The example above will give this resold;
  • first thing
  • second thing

I still have a lot of free time the next two weeks so expect some major updates to come in this time period. Mainly the layout will get a Final Fantasy make over, but sins I ain't good so good at that it will take some time.
