TheSpeedGamers 2013 Final Fantasy Marathon
« on: June 22, 2013, 07:37:44 AM »
Hey everyone! TheSpeedGamers are doing their second Final Fantasy marathon, their last one being in the summer of 2009. This year, it's going to be this coming week, starting on Monday the 24th to the 1st of July! Raising money for ACT Today!, TSG will be playing through all of the main Final Fantasy games and a few of the spinnoffs as well. Go check it out!

ACT Today! is a national nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to raise awareness and provide treatment services and support to families to help their children with autism achieve their full potential.

We at FFTogether will be showing TSG's marathon on our own marathon page at http://www.fftogether.com/marathon so if you'd like to watch it there instead of at the TSG homepage, that's all well and good! I personally hope to see you there; while I'm not in this marathon myself, the two forums I pride myself in frequenting are both the FFTogether forums and the TSG forums, and I think it would be great if these two communities mingled a little bit! Go and have fun at a great marathon next week!

You can check out TheSpeedGamers homepage right here.

Wasn't this the group you talked about quite a bit when I watched the some older videos of you?

You might not know this, but Mytthal has a soft spot for cake. He likes to lurk around West and steal Apple Pie from the Cooking Guild.

7 day long marathon..

..I can't help but feel amazed at the people who actually keeps that level of concentration for hours even if they take turns, everytime I watch older videos of game marathons.. Looking forwards to watch here. =)

Kain the Crow of the Crow Valley, Mischievous and Unpredictable D.S.
By the way, who know the relationship b/w a fox and a crow?

Probably, haha. I know I've mentioned both TSG and FFTogether in a lot of my videos, but especially during Birth by Sleep.

Saw this place on the speedgamers site and couldn't help stopping by once more. I hope whoever's running FF5 offers ample flexing and Gilgamesh.

warning: opinion below

This is just a watcher's opinion, but I'm really not enjoying the commentators for these runs. They seem more interested in weird stunts that have nothing to do with the game than the actual game. I asked in chat about the stunts and I was told it's so people donate - but they don't seem to be pushing the actual game incentives very hard, the FF6 commentators didn't even know what most of the incentives were and Essentia had to build most of the hype herself, and I heard the FF5 runner isn't even considering extra pianos or Gilgamesh, very successful incentives at C4L. I dunno, this just isn't something I enjoyed.

The way SDA/SRL and TSG do marathons are both very similar and very different. SDA marathons tend to be very game-focused, and TSG marathons are very commentator-focus. I like them both about equally, personally. I know some people like one way or the other, so it's all good. xD They're all very connected though, because without TSG, SDA would not exist, and by extension I dunno if SRL would either.

I know both Essentia and Poxnor are both more SDA'ers, and their game-style commentary from them showed it. It's funny, cause Poxnor came from TSG first. It's just a preference to each person. xD

Yeah, fair enough. I came from SDA myself (I only learned of this thing because Essentia was promoting it) so I'm definitely a fan of theirs more.
