If you have the PC version, Steam will give you the total amount of time played in your Game List.

I have 217.4 hours on record played of The Last Remnant.

I've been farming Bristly Dragon Manes and Sharp Spiritlord Tails in The Great Sand Sea...

Darn Leucetius and just about everyone who asks for Bristly Dragon Manes...

Well... I just realized you need the One Handed combat arts to get Hawkarang and Swordflash. Looks like I've wasted all my time on Dual Wielding combat arts on Rush, Faye and Emmy and Power Grip combat arts on Glenys, and Sandy.

After about 2 tries, I beat The Gates of Hell today. (Took me two tries because Pandemonium sucks). Now busy trying to farm rare monsters in the Aqueducts.

So I gues you did the Slave Traders quest right away? Otherwise there is no way to get back in the Aquaducts right after Gates.

The latest thing I did was get to Elysion and did the Cheerful/Gloomy mailman quest. I tried the Balterossa castle sidequest, and died miserably... but anyway!

Anyone know when I should return to finish the Emma quest? I started it as soon as I could, and couldn't beat the boss.

Anyway, tomorrow I'll be continuing with the story and at the moments parts 12-18 are uploading onto youtube for my playthrough. ;D

SwordStealer is my twin from across the country! ;D

The latest you can do it is just after you visit nagapur first time. You get to go back to athlum but when you go into the castle the Nest of eagles sequence begins which ends up losing you emma and the quest entirely. So do it anytime before then and your alright.
.

I swear this game is screwing with me constantly..  i go to grind on skull scavengers.. i set it up so Union 1 (combat) goes in to attack, Union 2 (hexers) stand by to get AP, Union 3(healers) standby but ready to heal and union 4 (combat) go and attack. Every battle i've had a Healing union the enemys go straight for them. NO MATTER WHAT UNION THEY ARE IN, they are targeted. It's really starting to Fluff me off...

shadow, take a look at your formations, put a Speed formation on your combat people. I've recommended Vanguard for AoE damage prevention in other battles, but that is a slow formation if you're using it. Since you're just grinding, put speed on everybody. This way your command sets should not get interfered with.

You didn't say who the leader is in your combat union, but maybe it's a slower character. Yamas or leaders with larger weapons (power grip, two handed, dual wield) are slower than one handed or staves.

Combat Unions 1
Rush
Baulson
Parker
Sutherby

Hex Union
Perneth
Agipur
Texthon
Chamberland

Healing Union
Megeleus
Kimberly
Arcane (think thats it's name.. Qsiti with Invocations)

Combat Union 2
Darien
Caedmon
Glaque
can't remember

both combat unions were in melee stance since it increased mobility
Hex/healing was in hawkeye so they could dodge attacks if they needed to.

When I use 5 unions they are as follows:

 1. Hexers with Unicorn ensuring they act first as I want the status effects at the start of the turn, not the end of it

 2. Potion Union (training) with Church Bell (increases Potions)

 3. Another training union, maybe for Herbs (Scout), Explosives or Traps probably using Unicorn too

 4. Combat Union using Counteroffensive which increases ATT and STR of offensive flanks but reduces mobility of all but the leader. Reduced
mobility is fine because I want the first three unions to act first so that my Combat team get the flank against multi-deadlocking enemies

 5. Healing Union (all with remedies) using Batwings. Again, lack of mobility is fine as I want them acting last. If you don't have Batwings use
Vampire (easily obtained by collecting 3 Horns) and have the leader in position 1 and the other two in positions 4 & 5 to reduce mobility which will
 almost ensure they act last

This set up really works well and I feel it's important for the hexers to act first whilst the healers and combat team act last. You'll find that as you progress through the game the hexers will be matching or even exceeding the combat union's damage as well as inflicting nasty status effects on the enemy. Have your final team, the healers, use the option 'Recover your Health' because the initial team will take damage and the healers will heal it before the start of the next turn. If the healers don't get that option and only get a normal standby option then use the option 'Recover your Health' for a non-deadlocked union that has herbs. Break deadlock if necessary against more than one enemy union as non offensive healing options may lie in the commands against a second enemy union. Against the Skull Scavengers you could quite happily send the hexers in with unions 2 and 3 on healing standby, Combat unions on the flank and finally the healers on healing standby. With damage from the hexers and the combat teams and a healing option from any one of the other three unions your battle will be easy. If you're only using 4 unions against the Skull Scavengers try using (1) Hexers, (2) any kind of union with herbs, (3) Combat and (4) Healers (remedies only). If you have entered Nagapur you should hire the healing specialist leader, Megeleus, for your remedies team.

GM has some excellent advice and the quality of the discussion here is superb and I appreciate everything that people are writing on our Last Remnant topics.

Also look at your weapons, since you ran all the way to Nagapur, it's likely that people need weapon upgrades. Along with the Skull Scavengers, you can gain experience just going hunting for components to upgrade all your people. It's a lot less boring. Check out Artaiin's Weapon Crafting guide on Gamefaqs for each weapon tree and you can see the next upgrade each weapon should have. Before end of disk 1 you can probably get Commander's level upgrades for the soldiers.
