Fortress is the code name for a new game that has yet to be officially unannounced by Square-Enix. The game was originally being developed by GRIN, but because of issues Square-Enix  placed the project in the hands of a new developer. Not much later GRIN officially closed down because of bankruptcy

This project has yet to be officially announced, but its existence was leaked out by GRIN's Development team during the takeover. It was first believed that the game was completely cancelled, but right now the game is still in development by an currently unknown studio, under the suppervision of Square-Enix.

The game will become an action game which takes place in Ivalice right after the events of FFXII: Revenant Wings, and it intended to become a multi platform game for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

It can't be right after FFXII:RW, because FFTA2 is a year after RW. Supposedly Fortress is supposed to be the game that explains the large cataclysm that led Ivalice from the Golden Era (FFXII, etc.) to its later years, setting the stage for FFTactics. I think so anyway.

Interesting, it does seem to have captured the look of FF12. I'll take more Ivalice any way I can get it!  :D

Well my favorite Ashe is, or was supposed to be in the game when GRIN was developing it(there was some concept art of her anyway) but it's unknown if she'll be in it now due to the bankruptcy and shut-down of GRIN, so S-E's either looking for or found another development company. S-E apparently stopped GRIN from continuing due to their disappointment in progress, or something like that. ???

Square-Enix pulled the project away from GRIN during the early developments. Since they weren't satisfied with the work they also didn't pay GRIN for the work that was already done, with no other projects going on this leaded GRIN to go bankrupt. Its still unknown which team is currently working on the project.

Doesn't both Tactics Advance and Tactics Advance2 take place in a fantasy version of Ivalice?

Nope, just FFTA.

FFTactics Advance does indeed take place in a "dream Ivalice" created through Mewt Randell's desires, but FFTA2 takes place in the real Ivalice. Even cameos from FFXII make appearances, such as Vaan, Penelo, Al-Cid, and Hurdy, one of the Moogling moogles in Rabanastre. However the game originally starts off in the "Earth" setting similar to the beginning of FFTA. The only difference is that while Marche is sent to Mewt's Ivalice(this is known because the player can actually construct locations themselves), Luso is sent to the real Ivalice.

Was just a mater of time I guess. Though the rights have been claimed by Square, so just see it as proof that its indeed a project of them ;)

Well I never played the second game as I don't have a DS, but I always though it went back to the dream world. With cameos appearing from FFXII.
