With the latest in the series of live letters from the producer airing today, Square Enix have detailed the open beta as well as pre-order early access for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

Open Beta will begin on August 17th and will last for two days, until August 19th. Previous testers will get an extra day with the game, as previous testers can start playing the open beta on August 16th. After that, players who have pre-ordered the game will be able to start accessing the game on the 24th of August, three days before launch day. Early access will last until August 26th, the day before launch.

During the open beta, players will have access to the full retail version of the game–even voice acting will be included–but there will be a level cap of 20. Character data will be carried over to the retail version of the game, unlike the other phases. From the looks of it, there will be no level cap in the early access time, however. PVP will also be open for open beta, but it looks like it will not be fully implemented until the first major patch, as will the crystal tower.

Other details were released today as well, including loyalty rewards for renewing subscriptions, the ability to buy subscription cards in stores, and a mobile app. The mobile app will be available on iOS within a week of the game’s launch, while the Android version will come within a month. People who played Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 will be pleased to hear that you guys will be able to play the game without a subscription fee until September 9th. Finally, players on the PS3 will be pleased to hear that a screenshot feature has been implemented, and will be fully functional as of the open beta.
