But once they have obtained them they are discarded as being "useless and not worth having." I used to think that too but now I have changed my mind and can see that Espers can play a big role in the game. I have written this guide to try and help people come to understand just what an Esper is capable of and I have tried my best not to Over-Complicate things. Hopefully it is easy to understand and the stats that I have put in are basic stats for every 20 levels (approximately) and also Elemental stats. Along with these stats I have added general info on each Esper along with what it is capable of doing and the Gambits it uses. This is then followed by a few personal comments of my own. Foe: Nearest Visible: PAINFLARE Comments: Obviously good against enemies with a fire weakness but this Esper is really only of any Major benefit early on. As the game progresses and the foes get stronger, Belias gets a little out-classed. Still, Belias is of use against Foes that use fire as he absorbs this and it will heal him and he will use a normal attack if the foe absorbs fire, the prime example being King Bomb. However, you must make sure you dismiss him before he launches Hellfire against a foe that absorbs fire or you will heal the foe. Fire based attacks are increased by 20% on Sunny days, during a Sandstorm and in Snow but decrease by up to 50% during rain. ***************************************************************************** 2. Has only 2 actions and one of them is dependent on the other. Whatever damage Shemhazai does with Devour Soul plus the damage you have done using Knots of Rust (accumulated) she will do one third of that damage when she uses Soul Purge. This has a cap of 60,000. This accumulative amount will continue to increase all the time Devour Soul is used and when Knots of Rust are used but if she uses Soul Purge or you use a Dark Matter, the counter is reset to 0 !! So if you want to save up all that strength then, whenever Shemhazai is likely to use Soul Purge, dismiss her. SELF: HP <100%: HOLY Comments: This Esper is worth getting purely for its Condemnation attack and I can tell you a good time to use it. Remember the Mark Roblon and all the undead that kept savaging you? Lower one of their HP to below 30% and Zalera will use Condemnation and inflict 9999 damage on all in the area which would probably remove quite a few of the undead around you. Sure, later on in the game you would just spam curaja at them but by using Zalera you could probably do this Mark a lot earlier than you normally would. And what about when you fight Zeromus and can't use Magick? Zalera could wipe out a lot of those Dark Lords in one hit. All it takes is to get one of them down to <30% HP and summon Zalera who will immediately use Condemnation. Heals itself with Holy when not active in battle. ***************************************************************************** 9. This is because the amount of damage done is regulated by the difference between his current MP and Max MP. For Gravity Well it's Max HP - Current HP x 2 and for Big Bang it's Max HP - Current HP x 5. Just equip Nihopalaoa and use a Gold Needle on yourself and Zodiark will use Final Eclipse.
