A Black Mage is a Job and one of the first jobs introduced to the series. Black Mages primary role in battle is to be able to cast Black Magic which consists of non and elemental spells and ailment spells. Black Mages have high MP, magic and magic defense stats, however have low HP and defense stats. Black Mages can equip a variety of rods and staffs.
