Espers (Final Fantasy XII)

Espers are beings who were created by the gods and 13 were spurned by the gods; a total of twelve were spurned for rebellion and one for having the gods fear his power as mentioned in Final Fantasy XII. They have all appeared in Ivalice-based titles excluding Vagrant Story. Most espers are based on the Lucavi from Final Fantasy Tactics and the Totema from Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.

In Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, the player must fight against the Espers before they are able to use them. However, in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance; the espers are divided between races. In Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift, the player must collect certain accessories that will enable them to summon Espers.

Each Esper is also a master of their own individual elements as well having their own title.

List of Espers

Final Fantasy XII has a total of thirteen Espers and only five Espers are obtained through the storyline. The player must find the other Espers by completing sidequests. Unlocking all thirteen will unlock Belias, the High Summoner rank in the Sky Pirates Den.

Level 1 Espers

• Belias, the Gigas - Storyline. Found at The Tomb of Raithwall.
• Mateus, the Corrupt - Storyline. Found at The Stilshrine of Miriam.
• Adrammelech, the Wroth - Optional. Found at Zertinan Caverns.
• Zalera, the Death Seraph - Optional. Found at the Barheim Passage.

Level 2 Espers

• Shemhazai, the Whisperer - Storyline. Found at the Ancient City of Giruvegan.
• Hashmal, the Bringer of Order - Storyline. Found at the Pharos.
• Cúchulainn, the Impure - Optional. Found at The Garamsythe Waterway.
• Zeromus, the Condemner - Optional. Found at The Stilshrine of Miriam.
• Exodus, the Judge-Sal - Optional. Found at The Mosphoran Highwaste.

Level 3 Espers

• Famfrit, the Darkening Cloud - Storyline. Found at the Pharos.
• Chaos, Walker of the Wheel - Optional. Found at the Necrohol of Nabudis.
• Ultima, the High Seraph - Optional. Found at the Great Crystal in Giruvegan.
• Zodiark, Keeper of Precepts - Optional. Found at the Henne Mines.
